Single-Malt Scotch Whisky Tasting With Ian MacMillan, Master Distiller at Bunnahabhain, Deanston, & Tobermory Thursday, July 19th. 5:30 – 7:30 PM BOSTON – Scotch Whisky News

Single-Malt Scotch Tasting With Ian MacMillan, Master Distiller at Bunnahabhain, Deanston, and Tobermory
Thursday, July 19th. 5:30 – 7:30 PM
At our office at 60 State st. 7th floor
No set pouring times, come whenever you can

Ian MacMillan

Master Distiller/Blender, Ian MacMillan will be with us Thursday, July 19th to launch Bunnahabhain’s new single-malt, Toiteach. Toiteach is a no-age-statement peated single-malt harkening back to what Bunnahabhain would have resembled in the nineteenth century. Ian has been in the industry for for over forty years, and oversees operations at the three distilleries owned by Burns Stewart: Bunnahabhain, Deanston, and Tobermory (the last also makes a peated single-malt under the name Ledaig.) Some of these Scotch distilleries are not well known but produce whiskies that you should know; very good single malts at good value – something you do not see enough of.

Ian will taste us on some wonderful scotch including Bunnahabhain’s brand new Toiteach, their 12 Y.O; 25 Y.O; as well as The Deanston 30 Y.O. and something from Tobermory / Ledaig. We would love to see you come in to welcome Ian to Boston and taste some wonderful scotch. More information (pricing etc.) will be available on our website soon.

Maltstock Masterclasses! – Whisky News

The Relaxed Whisky Weekend

7 – 9 September 2012

Fellow whisky enthusiasts,

A few weeks ago we announced some very nice and interesting Maltstock masterclasses. We now have some more fantastic additions. It is not going to be easy for you to choose this year 😉

Launch of the Four Roses Single Barrel Limited Edtion
There will be a very special Bourbon and Blues masterclass at Maltstock this year. Accompanied by live blues music, renowned whisky author and bourbon expert Hans Offringa will talk you through the history of Four Roses and the Blues. You might be surprised to learn how many similarities there are. And we have a special treat for you! The 2012 Single Barrel is the first ever edition that will also be available in Europe. And the launch will be at Maltstock!

Billy Abbott returns
Billy Abbott already has his passport ready and can’t wait to return to Maltstock. And even better, he will host a Speciality Drinks masterclass. We haven’t got a clue what will be in the line-up, but considering the great reputation of Speciality Drinks it is bound to be good.

Stephen Marshall
It is with great pleasure we can now announce that Stephen Marshall, Senior Global Brand Ambassador with Dewars will come to Maltstock this year. He will host an Aberfeldy masterclass. Maybe an underated distillery? Time to find out! None of us have ever been to an Aberfeldy masterclass before, so a great opportunity!

Masterclasses so far:
So a short recap of the masterclasses at Maltstock this year so far:
– Tastuya Minagawa | Suntory
– Master of Maltstock | “Something special”
– Tony van Rooijen | Glenfiddich special virtual distillery tour
– Sam Simmons | Balvenie
– Hans Offringa | Bourbon & Blues
– Billy Abbott | Speciality Drinks
– Stephen Marschall | Aberfeldy

So plenty of good reasons to be at Maltstock again this year. As well as of course the unique and totally relaxed atmosphere. And sharing and enjoying great drams with great (new) friends! That is after what’s it all about in the end!

If you haven’t bought your tickets yet, we would advice to hurry up. We currently do have some available in the webshop. Remember last year we sold out. So don’t miss out!

Hope to see you all in September!

Zuidam Distillers Whisky Tasting at Arkwrights – Wednesday 8th August 2012 – Dutch Whisky News

Zuidam Distillers Whisky Tasting – Wednesday 8th August 2012

Our August tasting will be a triple delight as not only will it feature both malt and rye whisky but also a selection of aged Dutch genevers that Patrick van Zuidam and his family produce at their distillery in the Netherlands. These are quality spirits produced with skill and passion, and if you’ve not experienced aged genever before you will find it dangerously addictive!

Being independent means that Zuidam Distillers have the freedom to innovate in ways that would not be viable for large distilleries and they have used this to great effect to experiment with various stages of the production process. Patrick’s tremendous knowledge of what influences the way flavours are formed combined with a dry sense of humour make him a very entertaining speaker and the ideal person to take us through this great range of whiskies and genevers. When else will you get the chance to taste whisky where the barley has been milled by a real Dutch windmill?

See below for all the details and if you have any queries just contact us.
