An afternoon with Angels

This will be a spiritual experience. How the Angels get their share, how much they get and where from. The heavenly drink!
Our afternoon is shared with the MCLEANSCOTLAND Spiritual Team of Vic Cameron and Robert Ransom. Vic is ex Diageo and now is a minister in his own church – how did that happen? And why? So Vic knows all about the Angels taking drams, he now also chats with them via the Heavenly sermons! Robert is the founder of Angels Nectar, an ex Glenfarclas man, he too knows a thing or two about Angels. We have also good background support, as our own whisky club; Angels Whisky Club has for a Patron, no less than Charles Maclean.
During the ageing process, at least 2% of the whisky in each (Scottish) barrel evaporates through the oak. Although 2% may sound small, at around 50 litres lost per barrel over a ten year maturation period (multiplied by thousands of barrels) it can add up to many hundreds of thousands of litres. A twenty year old whisky, for example, can lose up to 40% of its volume to evaporation, about £1 million per year!

An Evening with IAN BUXTON

It’s not about a winning dram, it’s about taste and packaging, sharing drams and chatting on the merits of packaging – does it influence your purchases? Ian will take us through various whisky packaging types, compare and evaluate the packaging world, sharing 5 drams as we go!

A former Marketing Director of one of Scotland’s best-loved single malts, Ian began work in the Scotch whisky industry in 1987. He was elected a Keeper of the Quaich in 1991 and is also a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Distillers. He is a member of the international tasting panel for Whisky Magazine’s ‘World Whisky Awards’ annual awards and Conference Director of the World Whiskies Conference, which he created. An author of many books – Ian will keep you amused and entertained this evening.

Vic Cameron (BSc DipDist) Vic has over 23 years experience in the distilling industry, working in a number of roles for the largest Distiller in the UK over his long career. He has worked in production management at both malting and distilling sites. He can go into as much (or as little) scientific detail as you wish; having passed the major industrial exam in this field, the IBD Diploma in Distilling, Vic is proud to have been the 4th International Malt Whisky Nosing Champion. He is now on the organising committee for the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival whisky school and also the Whisky Lecturer for the University of the Highlands and Islands. The university runs this course in conjunction with Gordon and MacPhail, providing training in whisky history, production, marketing and tasting.
