The Whisky Exchange #WhiskyDad – tweet and win! – Whisky News

AA TWE1

#WhiskyDad – tweet and win!

Father’s Day is approaching rapidly and with it a busy time for The Whisky Exchange – you really like buying your dads tasty drinks. This year, we’ve decided to ramp up the celebrations by a few notches with a competition. Well, not one competition, but 11 of them – welcome to #WhiskyDad.

We’ve got a pool of great prizes – a big stash of whisky from around the world – and we want to give them away. All you need to do to be in with a chance of grabbing one is tweet us.

What we’re looking for is a tweet containing a picture of a whisky that you reckon your dad would like as well as a few words telling us why. Add a #WhiskyDad and an @whiskyexchange to the tweet to make sure that we see it, and then follow us so we can send you a direct message if you win – do all that and you’ve entered the competition.

To get you going, here’s an example from me:

#WhiskyDad I reckon @DavidInHorsham would enjoy this – everyone loves a drop of Speyburn @whiskyexchange pic.twitter.com/swqMY3JJr6

— Billy Abbott (@cowfish) June 9, 2016

Each morning we’ll choose our favourite tweet of the past 24 hours and send the tweeter a prize from our big box of goodies. And then the fun starts again – every day until Father’s Day itself, 19 June.

For those of you concerned about our web team’s social lives, don’t worry – we won’t be making them work on weekends, and will be announcing Friday, Saturday and Sunday’s winners each Monday. But make sure you keep an eye on Twitter each weekday morning to see who’s won.

You can find full details over on our #WhiskyDad page, but for now – get tweeting!

HELP US CHOOSE AN EXCLUSIVE ARRAN WITH LOUISA YOUNG

AA Arran Louisa

Join Arran brand manager Louisa Young for an evening of discovery, tasting the distillery’s range of whiskies and helping The Whisky Exchange choose its next exclusive single-cask bottling. Our host for the evening is Louisa Young, senior brand manager, who has been telling whisky fans all about Arran for the past eight years. Arran has been a firm favourite of whisky fans around the world since launching its first whisky in 1998. The distillery hit a milestone last year with the launch of its first 18-year-old whisky and we’re continuing the celebrations with this tasting.

AA Arran Range

Louisa will be presenting the following whiskies on the night:

Arran 10 Year Old
Arran 14 year Old
Arran 18 Year Old
Arran Port Finish
Arran Machrie Moor 6th Edition

We will then finish with two cask samples, selected by the Arran team and brought down specially for the evening. Those attending the tasting will vote for their favourite, which will be bottled as a Whisky Exchange exclusive later in the year. A range of great whiskies and the chance to have your say on an exclusive bottling – we’ll see you there!

The tasting will take place on Tuesday 21 June at 7.30pm

Single Malt Scotch Tasting
with independent bottler Gordon & MacPhail
Thursday, June 9th
4:30 P.M. or 6:00 P.M.

Next week we will have Joe Swanson in the store to host this tasting. He will pour a number of single malts, some new and some that we have not seen for a while. Father’s Day is less then two weeks thereafter, and we suspect that the whiskies in this tasting would make very nice gifts indeed. A full list of malts will be announced on Monday.

More Fort McMurray Whisky Fundraisers at FETS WHISKY KITCHEN VANCOUVER – Whisky News

AA FETS

We are hosting 2 more Whisky Tasting Fundraisers for the displaced people of Fort McMurray. Some of the residents will be able to start heading back to town to check things out this week but it will still be awhile before the cleanup is such that they can actually move back to their homes. These are our men, women and children and they still need our help.

As I mentioned in our last email we are partnering with our food and whisky providers to raise money for the Canadian Red Cross’ Alberta Fire Appeal. The Canadian Red Cross is, along with other agencies, assisting our displaced citizens with food, clothing, necessities, lodging and counselling. The deadline for the federal government’s Canadian Red Cross donation matching is today, May 31st. We were hoping to make one large donation after our whisky fundraisers were complete but today we made a donation of $5000 to ensure the government top up.

The Edrington Group, the owners of The Macallan and Highland Park distilleries have offered to match the $1320 we raised from our first whisky tasting fundraiser we hosted. Thank you very much Dan and the folks at Edrington!

We committed to hosting  a series of 5 Whisky events to raise money for our fellow Canadians, our goal was to raise $10,000 and we’re still heading that way.  We looked at all the agencies fundraising and the Red Cross has the lowest administration costs with 91% of all money raised going to support those in need.

In addition to the generous support from our whisky partners we would also like to thank our food partners for their generous donations as well:

Gordon Food Service

Cioffi’s Meats

Hallmark Poultry

D’Original Sausage Company
