Angels’ Nectar Whisky Caching returns for the 20th Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival – Scotch Whisky News

ASW1

Angels’ Nectar Whisky Caching returns for the 20th Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival.

Similar to geo-caching, but with whisky,  a trail of  Angels’ Nectar Whisky Caches will be hidden across Speyside during the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival. Guests will be able to find the whisky filled caches via a series of clues after registering for the event via the Spirit of Speyside web site. The first to find each Angels’ Nectar Whisky Cache will be rewarded with a 200ml bottles of Angels’ Nectar Blended Malt Scotch Whisky, perfect for sharing.

Whilst there is no charge to take part, whisky cachers are asked to leave a whisky miniature (or better!) in place of the dram they find. Thus everyone who finds an Angels’ Nectar Whisky Cache will be a winner.

Geo-caching is a worldwide treasure-hunting phenomenon, which started in 2000 and has grown to encompass more than three million caches across 190 countries. The Angels’ Nectar version does not require GPS, but as the search for the caches will involve some light walking, outdoor clothing and footwear are recommended. The caches will also contain a logbook for participants to record their visit, and guests are invited to share their experience and tasting notes of the dram they find on social media, with #angelsnectarwhiskycache

Commenting on the event, Robert Ransom, Angels’ Nectar founder said, ‘We hope Angels’ Nectar Whisky Caching will encourage festival goers to explore Speyside’s beautiful countryside and discover new drams. Whilst there is no need to have been geo-caching before, for the whisky loving geo-cacher, what could be better than a trail of Angel’s share inspired whisky filled caches.’

Angels’ Nectar Whisky Caching is one of more than 650 events due to take place across Speyside as part of the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival, which this year runs from the 1st to the 6th of May. In addition Angels’ Nectar will be offering complimentary tasting sessions at Elephants in the Pantry, Grantown-on-Spey, on the 4th of May and at Brodie Countryfare, Forres, on the 5th of May.

Notes:

Angels’ Nectar, blended malts inspired by the Angels’ share, was launched by Grantown-on-Spey based Highfern Ltd in 2014.

Paul John Indian Whisky

Take a sip of the soul of India! The Great Indian single malt whisky John Paul will be featured at this expert presented tasting. Distilled in the valley of Goa, India, John Paul whiskey is traditionally made in copper-pot sills without artificial colors, flavors, or chill-filtration.  Each expression begins with a mash made from heritage barley harvested in the foothills of Himalayas. Paul John’s whiskies have received multiple international awards, receiving Gold from both World Whisky and Wizards of Whisky Awards.

Wright and Brown Tasting at the Whisky Shop #SFO March 1st, 2019 – American Whiskey News

TWS1

Friday, March 1st, 5-7PM:

Local Whiskey:

Wright and Brown

Distilled in American-made copper whisky stills, each Wright and Brown release is truly handcrafted. First, the distillers seek out the most flavorful non-GMO grains, working with local organic farms to get the best ingredients. Every step of the whisky process is then done in-house, from milling the grain to mashing, fermenting, distilling, aging, and finally bottling. The result is a decadently flavorful small-batch whiskey, made right here in the Bay Area.

Ardbeg 25 Director’s Special – Whisky Show: Old & Rare bottling

This weekend sees the return of Whisky Show: Old & Rare to the Grand Central Hotel in Glasgow. As usual, there’ll be stacks of excellent whiskies to try, from interesting old blends to ancient American whiskies and some of the finest single malts ever bottled.

The latest addition to the ranks – which already includes a 1930s bottling of non-peaty Laphroaig, Black Bowmore, our 10th-anniversary 1967-vintage Karuizawa (it’s our 20th birthday this year…), and an Old Orkney from Stromness bottled around 1910 – is the show bottling: The Whisky Show:Old & Rare 2019 Ardbeg 25 Year Old Director’s Special.

Ardbeg’s history has a number of stops and starts. Before the modern era, its last burst of whisky making was between 1989 and 1996. The Ardbeg that we mostly drink today was made since the distillery’s rebirth in 1997, but this release was distilled in that final flurry of activity before current owner LVMH took the reins.

It was a golden era, currently being mined the Ardbeg Twenty-Something releases, and we are particularly pleased to have this bottle to celebrate our 2019 show.

Ardbeg 25 Years Old Single Malts of Scotland Director’s Special

Nose: Brine and bonfires – farmyard straw smouldering on the beach. Cracked stone and rock pools lead to sweeter notes of apples, pears and dried apricots. Sherbet lemons build, with more minerality and gentle minty notes behind.

Palate: Fresh and zesty to start, with candied lemons quickly overrun by burning peat and straw. Liquorice root and cooling menthol are balanced against stewed apple and a touch of blackcurrant. Pepper notes build along with olive oil and brine.

Finish: Liquorice, green grass and tingling spice face to leave coal ash and mint fondant.

Comment: Not as gentle as some twenty-something Ardbegs, but with all the elegance you’d expect. Powerful, characterful, and very tasty.

The whisky will be on sale at the show and any remaining bottles will be available from The Whisky Exchange website when they have made their way down from Scotland. You can sign up for an alert when the whisky is live on our Ardbeg 25 Years Old Single Malts of Scotland Director’s Special page.

About Whisky Auctioneer

Whisky Auctioneer specialises in auctioning whisky, whether it be fine, old, rare, collectable or affordable.  Formed in 2013 and based in Perth, central Scotland, our website aims to be the most comprehensive website available for the buying and selling of whisky globally.

About Moon Import

Moon Import was founded by Pepi Mongiardino in 1980. Heeding the advice of the late, great, Silvano Samaroli, he opted to be “free from the big companies,” and became the official distributor for Islay’s Bruichladdich, and later Tamnavulin and Tullibardine, preferring however to procure casks from private owners. Moon Import now occupies an important place in the pantheon of historic whisky greats, and we are delighted to bring this unrivalled collection to market in this exclusive auction along with this unique, premium tasting experience.
