Arts4Arts Sake! – Scotch Whisky Comment

diamond-jubilee2

Arts4Arts sake!

Is it just me? Or is the whisky industry trying to place products in the Tate gallery? ART 4 ARTS SAKE; Surely whisky is produced to drink, enjoy and share with friends. Recently there has been an influx of “designer” bottles and packaging. Now dinnee get me wrong, I love design as much as the next person, er aye, well maybe a bit more actually, design has been a part of my life for the past 40 years! So, why is it that several whiskies are now being packages in super dooper boxes and designer glass?

20911

How much of the cost for these examples shown, is actually the whisky and how much the packaging? I do really like each of the samples shown, but come on, the cost is out of reach of most people and many of these end up in “collectors” collections. I bet they dinnee actually ever drink them, surely that’s not whisky is all about. It’s like owning a Lamborghini but never actually driving it, and that’s a damn shame eh!

63157

Tell me; once you have actually drank your whisky, do you keep the bottle on a shelf for everyone to look at? Or do you dump it in the bin? Rr do you never drink it because it looks really cool?

Whisky Intelligence 2010 ‘Tasting Notes/Whisky Reviews’ Score Compilation – Whisky News

whiskyintelligencelogo-finaloutlines

Please find below the some what tardy delivery of the Whisky Intelligence Tasting Notes/Whisky Reviews Scores for 2010. As you can appreciate W.I. has been mildy over tasked in 2010 posting hundreds and hundreds of articles relating to whisky.

This compilation is not in any regard an ‘Awards’ but merely a record from top to bottom of the whiskies reviewed in 2010. The vast majority have been purchased with private funds; a very few have been provided by agents or suppliers and are thus noted in the individual review. If you are curious to see which are the later, you may search through the Tasting Notes/Whisky Reviews archive and find them for yourself.

There is a distinct lack of neither rhyme nor reason in the compilation; they have merely been reviewed as they have come available. Some were new releases, some blends and some no longer available.

Additionally whiskies that have achieved an equal score (for example 88 points) have not been reliably listed alphabetically merely to further demonstrate the lack of neither rhyme nor reason.

An Update From Whisky Intelligence – Scotch Whisky News

whisky-intelligence

As many of you have noticed we now have a direct feed, located on the upper right hand corner of the home page, to www.whiskyfun.com by Serge Valentin and Serge has very kindly done  the same thing on Whisky Fun reproducing the feed from Whisky Intelligence.

Here at Whisky intelligence we’re very pleased with this new whisky opportunity for our readers…..

And you may also have noticed the absence of tasting notes during the last 10 days or so, this will continue for the next little while due to the fact that there is a serious lack of suitable material on the Hawaiin island of Maui! Having said that, it must be noted that WI does have some interest in Scoresby Very Rare Blended Scotch Whisky aged 36 months which is in most liquor stores here and simply must be investigated at some point!

Things will return to normal the middle of February…….
