 – …and puts £10,000 of whisky up for grabs for auction bidders

Specialist spirits auctioneer, Whisky Hammer, is hosting its largest online whisky auction to date, with rare and unique bottles amongst the 5,000+ lots available for sale.

Marking the company’s 100th auction, buyers have the chance to get their hands on some truly special whiskies going under the hammer, which include a 50 Year Old Macallan (Millennium Decanter) distilled in 1949, a 40 Year Old Brora (distilled in 1972) and a 1976 Single Cask Ardbeg.

Whisky Hammer has also bottled a limited-edition whisky in celebration of the milestone – with just 100 bottles available to bid on. Now a go-to destination for buyers and sellers of rare and collectible whisky worldwide, Whisky Hammer is known for its previous high-profile sales including the record-breaking million-pound cask of Macallan whisky which lay forgotten for more than 30 years and a 55 Year Old Yamazaki which sold for £380,000.

Each bottle won at auction will be the equivalent to one entry into the draw.

Daniel Milne, co-founder and managing director of Whisky Hammer and Still Spirit, said: “The response from customers looking to take part in our 100th auction has been incredible. Our entire team have been inundated with an impressive array of stand-out whiskies, some of which are rare, unique and hard to come by.

“We’re giving successful bidders the chance to win a share of £10,000 worth of whisky in our prize draw. This is just a small token of thanks to the customers who have helped build and shape the business over the last eight years, and an opportunity for anyone looking to take part in the auction for the first time to be in with a chance to win an impressive amount of whisky!”

Scotch Whisky Auctions “153rd Auction Highlights” – Auction Whisky News

Our 153rd auction is ticking along nicely but will soon be approaching the end point, so time to get those bids in.  Here are a few more highlights in this month which you might have missed to help you in your search.

Macallan 1950 Exceptional Cask #13 2018 Release

One of the finest bottles in the series this is the Macallan 1950 Exceptional Cask #13 2018 Release.  An expression of unbridled class and exclusivity the whisky contained herein was distilled in 1950 and sat patiently maturing in a 1st fill sherry butt for north of six decades before finally being bottled in 2018.  One of only 336 bottles in the release this whisky has few peers, even within the hallowed territory of the widely respected Macallan Exceptional Cask series.

Daftmill 2005 Inaugural Release

From one of the new upstarts in the whisky industry this is the Daftmill 2005 Inaugural Release.  Daftmill have been making waves with their light and airy lowland whiskies and this is the one which started it all.  Given that Daftmill is a working farm distillery it produces precious few casks of whisky per year which only adds to the rarity of this inaugural release.  One of 629 bottles released this a chance to own a little piece of lowland whisky history.

Macallan 52 Year Old 2018 Release

Now this one really is a bit special, this is the Macallan 52 Year Old 2018 Release.  A wonderfully rare single malt this bottling was released in 2018 to a much deserved fanfare.  With over five decades of maturation this delightful dram has undoubtedly been imparted with tremendous character from the ancient sherry wood it has rested in for all those years.  One of only 250 bottles released this one is as rare as they come and comes hand-signed by Macallan whisky maker Sarah Burgess.

Glenfarclas 1954 Family Cask #1253

Finally we have another cracker from a Speyside giant, this is the Glenfarclas 1954 Family Cask #1253.   Distilled almost seventy years ago this delicious looking whisky was matured for almost six decades in a single sherry butt before finally being bottled in 2013.  The Family Cask line from Glenfarclas has produced some truly astounding drams over the years and this beauty is right up there with the best of them.  One of only 424 bottles produced this fabulous rarity would sit pride of place in even the finest of collections. We still only charge 10% buyers commission and zero sellers commission, so for buying and selling bottles this is the place.

We still have plenty of time left in the auction but now is definitely the time to get moving picking out your own personal favourites and making bids.  Best of luck to everyone in the auction, and as always………..don’t lose your bottle.

MARCH AUCTION NOW LIVE!

We have a spring in our step this month with another small but mighty auction which is now LIVE. We love a good vintage and there are three belting bottles distilled in the 1960’s in this month’s auction, bottled by renowned independent bottler Duncan Taylor; 1965 Invergordon 36 Years Old, 1966 Bruichladdich 40 Years Old and 1967 Springbank 38 Years Old.

Back to the 60’s with this highly collectible bottle of 1967 Macallan 18 Years Old. Officially released as an 18 year old in 1988, this bottling is from an era that many whisky experts and enthusiasts believe the Macallan 18 Years Old was at its best. What do you think?

Bit of a theme this month, let’s take a look at this stunning bottle of 1968 Glengoyne Vintage Reserve. This expression is thought to have been matured for a minimum of 25 years before being bottled at natural Cask strength in a limited run.

Auctioneer behind record-breaking £1m Macallan cask celebrates 100th whisky auction and £10,000 whisky giveaway

– Whisky Hammer to offer a ‘suite of perks’ as a thank you to its loyal customer base –

Specialist spirits auctioneer, Whisky Hammer, is marking its landmark 100th online auction on Friday 15 March, with a suite of perks as a ‘thank you’ to its buyers and sellers.

Since forming eight years ago, the auction site, which was founded by brothers Daniel and Craig Milne, has successfully sold over 155,000 lots worth £60 million for private sellers, attracting bids from 88 countries across the globe in its monthly auctions.

Whisky Hammer has now become a destination for buyers and sellers of rare and collectible whisky – including a record-breaking million-pound cask of Macallan whisky which lay forgotten for more than 30 years. The Macallan, which fetched $1,295,500 (including buyer’s premium) smashed the previous record at the time for a cask sold at auction of $572,000, which was held by Bonhams. Other high-profile bottles sold by Whisky Hammer include a 55 Year Old Yamazaki which sold for £380,000.

To mark its 100th auction milestone, Whisky Hammer will be arranging a number of perks in its March auction to say ‘thank you’ to its customers.

Sellers are being urged to submit interesting, unique or rare bottles, before the 100th auction deadline of Monday 11th March, in return for one-off incentives. Rather than the usual 5% seller commission charge, sales in the March auction will benefit from not only 0% seller commission, but an additional 1% bonus being paid on top of the hammer proceeds for its sellers.

All successful buyers in the March auction will be entered into a prize draw to win a share of £10,000 worth of Still Spirit whisky vouchers – with 10 prizes in total and first place winning £5,000 to spend in the store. Each bottle won at auction will be the equivalent to one entry into the draw.

Whisky Hammer will also bottle a limited-edition whisky in celebration of its 100th auction – with just 100 bottles available to bid on. The 11-Year-Old blended Scotch whisky is being bottled at 100 Proof (50% ABV) and all bottles will be individually hand numbered, with bids starting at £30 per bottle.

Daniel Milne, co-founder and managing director of Whisky Hammer and Still Spirit, said: “Whisky has been our genuine passion from day one, and we’ve been dedicated to securing rare and hard to find whiskies for our buyers to enjoy ever since.  Thanks to our global buyer and seller customer base, we’ve been lucky enough to represent some true unicorns of the whisky world in our monthly auctions, and are so proud of what we have achieved between our very first auction to us now marking our 100th.

“Bringing together whisky lovers across the globe has been a real highlight for us and we feel the 100th auction is a great milestone to give back a big “thank you” to our loyal buyers and sellers with the planned March auction perks.  Here’s to the next 8 years!”
