MARCH 2025 AUCTION ENDING SOON!

Just in case you overlooked them, here is a little look at a few little gems in this month’s auction. Check them out before it’s too late! Starting with this Oban 19 Year Old 1995 Manager’s Dram. Annually released from a single distillery in that portfolio, the Distillery Manager is tasked to choose the finest casks from that distillery to produce this yearly malt which is then bottled at Cask strength in limited numbers. This is a cracking example.

Or how about this rare commemorative expression, released in 1997 to mark the 199th anniversary of Aultmore Distillery, listing the staff that worked at the distillery at the time of its centenary. This is bottle number 27.

Dalbeallie Dram was bottled in honour of the local train station situated beside the distillery nestling in near proximity to the River Spey. The train station actually played and important part in the history of the much loved Speyside distillery with the trains carrying consignments of Spanish Sherry Casks to the distillery. Released in 2018 during the annual Spirit of Speyside Festival, Dalbeallie Dram was received with great acclaim amongst the whisky fraternity. Completely matured in Sherry Casks and bottled at Cask strength, only 1,000 bottles were produced!

Or how about this stylish bottle of Rosebank, distilled in 1981 and then bottled at Cask strength in 1997. Bottle number 603.

These are only a few of the old, limited and collectable bottles featured in our March 2025 Auction, to view more wee gems visit clickwhiskyauctions.com. Register to bid. Remember, you’ve got to be in it to win it! Auction ends Sunday 23rd March from 8pm GMT.

MARCH AUCTION HALFWAY THROUGH!

Released in early 2020, the fifth instalment of the Macallan Folio series tells the story of an individual who, after a day of sport in Speyside, bemoans a chance from the Laird to share a glass of Macallan with him, because he had taken down the lugs of his bonnet and couldn’t hear the offer of a warming glass of Macallan!

Although this well-known blended whisky in now produced by Diageo in Scotland, it was first produced by James Logan Mackie in Edinburgh in 1861. Older bottlings of White Horse are incredibly sought after, in particular due to the fact that a good proportion of malt used in the blend comes from Lagavulin Distillery. This particular example was bottled in 1949 by Royal appointment to His Majesty the King.

Or how about this well-aged expression, distilled at the much loved Speyside distillery Glen Grant. This rare release marked the opening of their new visitors centre on the 28th of May 2008, available only to those that attended the celebrations. Bottled straight from a single Cask at natural Cask strength and limited to only 85 bottles with bottle number hand-written and including the signature of the Master Distiller Sir Dennis Malcolm!

Distilled in 1974 at Benrinnes Distillery, aged for 21 years then bottled at a natural Cask strength, this is a lovely example of the highly-regarded Rare Malts range.

MARCH 2025 AUCTION NOW LIVE!

We have a real spring in our step this month, with a cracking little auction for you including some interesting and vintage bottlings, like this Fettercairn 30 Year Old ‘The Stillman’s Dram’, one of the older releases of this popular series.

Released in 2010, the first instalment of an incredibly popular series showcasing the Clan Mackenzie, this 1992 bottling of Dalmore conveys an important part of the history of the distillery, with only 3,000 bottles of the limited release produced. This particular bottle was also signed in gold ink by legendary Dalmore whisky maker Richard Paterson.

The Macallan first introduced the Concept series in 2018 for travel retail. The series is focused on visionary individuals with fresh, bold ideas with imaginative and innovative concepts in their respective arts. Macallan Concept 1 was inspired by the world of surreal art and designed to translate to the creative nature of different cask types and maturation processes. Macallan Concept 2 was inspired by the world of music for in-house whisky maker Stephen Bremner, not only passionate about music but also an avid house DJ. This release is intended to marry both music and whisky, bringing together a multi-sensory experience, whilst Concept 3 was inspired by contemporary designer David Carson. A delightful trio of Macallan!

This delightful 25 Year Old was distilled in 1973 at Tamnavulin Distillery, then released by the Glen Stuart Whisky Company under the name New Century in 2000 to mark the arrival of the new Millennium.

These are only a few of the old, limited and collectable bottles featured in our March 2025 Auction, to view more wee gems visit clickwhiskyauctions.com. Register to bid. Remember, you’ve got to be in it to win it! Auction ends Sunday 23rd March from 8pm GMT.

Scotch Whisky Auctions 165th Mid-Auction Highlights – Auction Whisky News

The 165th auction is around the midway point now, but fear not for there is still plenty of time to get involved.  From our experience the auction usually ends sometime after 10pm on Sunday night, leaving you ample time to secure that bottle you have your eye on.  We have some really interesting bottles in this month, so here are a few you might have missed.

We’d be remiss if we didn’t kick things off with this incredible Balvenie 47 Year Old ‘Morgan’s Reserve’. Up there with the oldest bottlings ever produced by this esteemed distillery? Check. Vanishingly rare? Check. First time this bottling has ever been made available to the secondary market? You’d better believe it. This private bottling, for the grandchildren of whisky merchant George Morgan, from his own private casks, will now be on the radar of every serious Balvenie collector worldwide. We can’t emphasise enough how special this one is!

These are good. Very, very good. An eclectic (verging on obscure) collection of bottlings from artisan stateside distilleries, tasting these is like listening to a jazz compilation through expensive headphones. If you don’t believe us, just check out their scores at whiskyfun.com, where Serge Valentin has rated most of them in the 90s. If you’ve never stepped out of your comfort zone with international whisk(e)y, this might be the perfect place to start…

The Red Collection from Macallan is one of the most beautiful series from the Speyside giants, in no small part because of the classic, understated nature of the presentation. This Macallan 40 Year Old The Red Collection typifies that – no bells, no whistles, no smoke and mirrors… just an elegant wooden case which houses a truly spectacular bottle of whisky.

Rounding off the whistle-stop tour of our 165th Auction is this dark, unctuous Fettercairn 46 Year Old. Founded in 1824 (incidentally, the same year as The Macallan), Fettercairn has ridden often under the radar – but always appreciated by those who have fallen in love with its light, tropical spirit. The stills at the distillery have unique copper cooling rings which douse them in water to increase condensation. This richer expression has been finished in Tawny Port Pipes, lending notes of ripe banana, dark chocolate and figs.As always, we have a wide range of drams with something to suit everyone, so now is the time to get moving picking out your own personal favourites for your watchlist. Best of luck to everyone in the auction, and as always………..don’t lose your bottle.

Thinking of selling your bottles?

We still offer 0% commission to all sellers making Scotch Whisky Auctions the best place to sell bottles.
