The Distillery Reserve Collection 2018 (Caperdonich 21, Strathisla 26, Glenugie 37)
The Distillery Reserve Collection is a limited release of rare and exceptional whiskies from Chivas Brothers Single Malt Whisky Distilleries. Each release is bottled at cask Strength. Some of the latest releases are:
Caperdonich 21 Years Old, distilled 7th October 1996 and bottled 6th August 2018. Limited to only 324 bottles
Strathisla 26 Years Old, distilled 20th January 1992 and bottled 1st August 2018. Limited to only 708 bottles
Glenugie 37 Years Old, distilled 19th June 1981 and bottled 6th August 2018. Limited to only 300 bottles
Johnnie Walker White Walker – Game of Thrones
An Autumn 2018 Limited Edition release from Johnnie Walker. This expression was created by whisky specialist George Harper, alongside a small team of expert blenders at JW, this innovative whisky is best served directly from the freezer, echoing the chilling presence of the White Walkers. If you have been on a remote island for the last few years, Game of Thrones is an American fantasy drama television series which was based on fantasy novels by George R. R. Martin. The Series was released in The United States April 2011 and the World was hooked!
Glenrothes 13 Years Old 2004 – Halloween Edition 2018
A Limited Release of only 2202 bottles, Glenrothes Distillery have gone to the dark side! Distilled 2004 in 100% in first fill sherry seasoned casks for 13 years before being bottled October 2018 at cask strength. Glenrothes Distillery is located beside the town’s graveyard, day and night as life begins and ends the Glenrothes continues its daily routine of giving birth to newly made spirit.
Yamazaki 1999 – 2012 Tokyo International Bar Show
This single cask Yamazaki was distilled in 1999, matured in a Puncheon in the Ohmi Aging Cellar and then bottled in 2012 for the Tokyo 2012 Whisky Live Bar Show.
Ben Nevis 40 Years old 1963 – Old & Rare Platinum Selection
From Hunter Laing’s, and bottled for their Old & Rare Platinum Selection, from the Highland distillery Ben Nevis an incredibly well-aged 40-year-old Single malt which has spent a minimum of 6 months finishing in Sherry Wood. Distilled 1963 then bottled at natural cask strength in 2004. Traditionally un-chill filtered and one of only 339 bottles from a single cask.

Chichibu 2010 – 2018 Mizunara Cask No.1000 Number One Drinks
A special bottling from Ichiro’s Malt Chichibu, distilled in 2010 and matured fully in Japanese Mizunara Oak for eight wonderful years before being bottled exclusively for Number One Drinks from single cask number 1000.
Rumoured to be limited to under 300 bottles produced this is one highly collectable offering from Ichiro’s Malt.
Macallan Easter Elchies – 2009
Single sherry hogshead #14016. 2009 release for the Elchies Cask Selection series. Beautifully presented Macallan bottled at full strength normally available only at the distillery.
Glenfarclas 40 Years Old – Warehouse Edition
An award-winning whisky from Glenfarclas, aged for an incredible 40 years and bottled in a presentation box replicated by the unmistakable red warehouse door at Glenfarclas.
John Grant purchased the distillery for £511.19s.0d on the 8th June 1865, Glenfarclas now marks 180 years in production under the Grant family, six generations so far.
TWE Whisky Show 10th Anniversary Series 2018 (Arran 21, BenRiach 28, Ardbeg 18)
2018 saw the 10th anniversary of The Whisky Exchange Whisky Show in London which was bigger and better than previous years. Releasing two sets of bottlings: The Whisky Show 10th Anniversary Series and The Future of Whisky Set, as well as bottlings from Chichibu and Karuizawa.
The 10th Anniversary Series Features:
Arran 21 Year Old – Limited to only 217 bottles
BenRiach 28 Year Old – Limited to only 106 bottles
Ardbeg 18 Year Old – Limited to only 225 bottles
Talisker 40 Years Old 1978 – The Bodega Series
New for 2018. Talisker proudly releases a very special bottling, not only is it bottled at 40 years old but it is the oldest official bottling from the distillery. Limited to only 2,000 bottles, of which only 400 were made available for the UK market.
This is the 1st from Talisker’s Bodega Series, matured in refill American Oak barrels and finished in Delgado Zuleta Sherry casks. Beautifully housed in a wooden box which reflects the arches from a bodega.
NEW WORLD WHISKY RECORD AT BONHAMS EDINBURGH
The Macallan Valerio Adami 1926 60 year old. Sold for £848,750. Estimate: £700,000-900,000
A bottle of the extremely rare The Macallan Valerio Adami 1926 60 year old sold at Bonhams Whisky Sale in Edinburgh today (3 October) for a new world record of £848,750. It had been estimated at £700,000-900,000.
The previous world record was set by Bonhams in May this year when another bottle of The Macallan Valerio Adami 1926 was sold for £814,081 (HK$8,636,250).
Bonhams Whisky specialist in Edinburgh Martin Green commented:” I am delighted at this exceptional result. It is a great honour to have established a new world record, and particularly exciting to have done so here in Scotland, the home of whisky. Bonhams now holds the record for the three most valuable bottles of whisky ever sold at auction.”
The whisky was bottled in 1986. Macallan commissioned two world-famous Pop Artists – Valerio Adami and Peter Blake – to design labels for a very limited edition of 24 bottles –12 of the Adami and 12 of the Blake labels. The bottle is elegantly presented in a specially commissioned cabinet or Tantalus, based on the traditional ‘Brass and Glass’ distillery spirit safe. It was bought by the vendor direct from the Macallan distillery for an undisclosed sum in 1994 and was part of a wider collection from the same owner offered in the sale.
Although 12 bottles of The Macallan Valerio Adami 1926 were produced, it is not known how many of them still exist. One is said to have been destroyed in an earthquake in Japan in 2011, and it is believed that at least one of them has been opened and drunk.
Valerio Adami (born 1935) is an Italian artist famous for painting bold, flat forms outlined in thick, black lines, in a style reminiscent of comic art. He is among the most acclaimed of 20th Century Pop Artists.

Karuizawa 1983 Single Cask #3557 / Only 50 Bottles
In 2015, 45 attendees of the Nepal Appeal Karuizawa Masterclass each paid £6,000 to try a selection of extremely rare Karuizawa. Each attendee was given a bottle of this single cask Karuizawa with all the proceeds of the event going towards aid in Nepal which suffered a series of devastating earthquakes earlier on in the year.
This month see’s the return of some of the most sought after bottlings to ever come out of Islay. Amongst a great line up we have what is thought to be the only official bottling of Port Ellen released while the distillery was active ; The Queen’s Visit, a fantastic sherry cask Bowmore from the mid 1950s which has been described as ‘in a league of its own’ plus lots more.

Glenfarclas 1955 50 Year Old / Bicentenary
An incredibly special bottle of Glenfarclas, selected by George Grant to celebrate the bi-centenary of the distillery’s founder, and his great, great, great, great Grandfather, John Grant. Only 110 were produced of this 50 Year Old, which comes in an attractive presentation box with certificate / scroll.
A well known selection of Clynelish are showcased this month with certain bottlings said to contain liquid from the original Clynelish distillery we know today as Brora.
