Well, it was going to happen eventually. I think I’ve found something that’s duller than television on a Saturday night. Firstly though, i would like to make clear that some people will enjoy this whisky, and that’s fine. However, personally, I think this is one of the finest examples of bland and forgettable that can be envisaged in the spirits world. Imagine going to all the effort of creating spirit, germinating, grinding, fermenting and distilling – ageing for a minimum of twelve years and then…taking away any key distillery character by filtering, colouring and bottling at 40%. This isn’t in anyway a good example of what Fettercairn can do, yes, I’ve never personally got on with it as a single malt but in the warehouse, there must be some incredible stock…statistically. What a disappointment.
