Rare, Old & Almost Gone – From the Shores of Loch Fyne – Scotch Whisky News
Laphroaig 25 year old
Matured for 25 years and bottled at cask strength, this was released in 2014 and is has been in high demand ever since. Newly distilled spirit has been left to mature in European Oloroso Sherry Casks, followed by ex-American Bourbon Barrels. If your an Islay whisky fan, be prepared to be blown away!
Tasting Notes:
There is a burst of peat at first, this yields to sweet sherry and spiced apple, providing a deep and unique Islay experience.
Only a few bottles remain…
One of the oldest official bottlings from the only distillery on Skye, a real Island gem.. As one might expect, Talisker 30 year old is a more mature, mild-mannered version of Talisker, though still with plenty of personality and unmistakable character.
Tasting Notes:
Gentle smoke and salted caramel with lingering black pepper and citrus.
Hunter Laing’s Old & Rare name signifies a rare single cask malt that has been bottled at the peak of its flavour. Distilled in September 1982 and bottled in July 2014 at a natural cask strength of 45.9% volume. This 31 year old Port Ellen is one of only 29 bottles filled from a Refill Hogshead.
