Abbey Whisky Winter Festival 2011 Day 10 – Rare Cask Series – Scotch Whisky News

On the tenth day of Christmas Abbey Whisky gives to you…
Glenglassaugh Distillery – Rare Cask Series
Glenglassaugh Distillery stands at the east end of Sandend bay approximately two miles to the west of Portsoy.
Mothballed for over 22 years, rumours circulated in 2008 that the distillery was to open and once again produce its high quality single malt whisky. On the 29th of February 2008 whispers became reality and Glenglassaugh distillery was bought by the newly formed Glenglassaugh Distillery Company. During the next few months around £1.0m was spent refurbishing and on 25th November 2008 Scotland’s First Minister Alex Salmond officially re-opened the distillery.
On 4th December 2008 the first of the new spirit ran from the stills and was filled into cask No 1 on the 16th December. After 3 long years, Glenglassaugh single malt whisky has come to age once again and is currently being bottled… literally as we write! (http://www.facebook.com/groups/glenglassaugh/)
It doesn’t seem like three years since Alex Salmond pushed the button to start grinding the very first mash for the refurbished Glenglassaugh, but it is, and the whisky world is a much happier place with this wonderful whisky here once again…
In celebration of this imminent arrival Abbey Whisky would like to offer you these Rare Casks Series malts at a special rate as part of the Abbey Whisky Winter Whisky Festival 2011.
Prices will be frozen for the duration of the festival.
