Amrut Portonova receives 2011 Malt Maniac Award

Malt Maniacs released their annual awards on December 1, 2011 and the limited edition Amrut Portonova received the “Best Cask Innovation Award (Premium)”. The Best Cask Innovation Award is presented for the Best whisky matured or finished in ‘special’ or unusual casks. In addition Amrut Portonova received 88.15 points and was awarded a Silver Medal.

For 2010 in addition to a number of Malt Maniac Awards, Amrut received a special award for “Young World Distillery of the Year”, which recognized the quality of whiskies being produced by Amrut.

Amrut Portonova is a unique Single Malt Whisky that was first matured in new American oak and ex-Bourbon barrels. The whisky is then transferred to Port Pipes for further maturation of 1 year and then back to ex-Bourbon barrels for finishing, Bottled at Cask Strength 61.2% abv this is a limited edition release of less than 1250 bottles worldwide.

An allocation of 312 bottles of Amrut Portonova will be available in the US by mid-December at a price of $115 per bottle.
