Aultmore 15 Year Old Sweet Marsala Cask

A rare treat for fans of this crisp, fruity Speyside whisky, frequently exported when it’s not doing its day job as a key component of Dewar’s blend. In fact, this is one of three 15-year-old sibling releases from Aultmore, all beginning their lives in refill American oak and finished in casks that previously held different styles of Marsala.

Marsala is a sweet, amber-toned fortified wine named for its home, the port of Marsala in Sicily. Aultmore explores the influence of three of its many varieties in these limited releases, with each carefully monitored six-month finish emphasising a different side of the distillery’s complex character.

The Sweet Marsala Cask edition, finished in Marsala Superiore Ambra Secco casks, bolsters Aultmore’s delicate, herbal character with nutty notes, citrus, and sweetness. Bottled at 46% abv, natural colour and non-chill filtered.

Delicate and grassy, lent a fragrant depth by tropical citrus, honey-drizzled baked figs, and buttery toasted walnuts.
