This 16 year old “Flora and Fauna” edition is one of the few releases of Dailuaine as a single malt. Hailing from Speyside, it’s a complicated expression, full and sweet, yet also citric-fresh, which is best enjoyed after dinner.

The nose opens with cheese rind and walnuts, before revealing fresher notes of orange and lemon with hints of sandalwood and toffee. On the palate, the whisky is full, sweet and warming with candied orange, currants and Highland toffee, before a spicy finish with a light nutty aftertaste.

In 1889, Dailuaine became the first distillery to be fitted with a “pagoda” roof above the malt kiln. Designed by Charles Cree Doig, a famous distillery architect, the pagoda roof went on to be installed in most malt distilleries and, although very few distilleries still malt their own barley on-site, they often maintain their pagoda roof as this has become the recognised symbol of a Scotch malt distillery.
