Our distillery was founded with a singular purpose, to create sustainable local jobs and address endemic population decline here in the Isle of Harris
One of the ways we do this is developing local people, including training young men and women in the art and science of distilling to set them on a lifelong journey in making Harris spirits.
Meet 28-year old Paddy Sinclair who moved to Glasgow to undertake his MSc in Brewing and Distilling before returning home to the islands to join our team.
As well as now making The Hearach single malt, he’s able to reunite with old friends, invest time in his local shinty team, and cherishes the opportunity to be near his Hearaich family from Huisinis.
Paddy says, “I am able to add to the population number here which is a great plus in my mind, even if it is only a small number.”
