Alistair Walker needs little introduction to Scotch whisky Connoisseurs and his single cask bottling company goes from strength to strength. Speyside distillery Tomintoul is a rarely seen independent bottling. So when Alistair offered TWB a single Pedro Ximenez hogshead we were not going to say no! Distilled September 2010 and bottled August 2013 at natural strength 56.7% abv.

Nose: Christmas cake, ripe melon, rum and raisin, autumnal spices – nutmeg, cinnamon and cloves – sweet sherry.
Taste: Rich, dry and spicy sherry oak – melon pulp, dried tobacco, more spices and butterscotch.
Finish: Long lasting, sweet sherry – perfect for the fireplace.

Tomintoul Distillery was built in 1964 and production began the following year at this Speyside malt whisky distillery. Its four stills produce mainly lightly peated whisky although small batches of highly peated whisky are produced annually. The core range includes the Tomintoul 10 Year Old and Tomintoul 14 Year Old. Independent bottlers including Hunter Laing and Gordon & MacPhail produce regular single cask expressions
