The Harris Journal: Two Weeks To Go – Scotch Whisky News

There are just two weeks to go until we finally share our first whisky with you all.

Behind the scenes, there’s a hive of activity with preparations taking place aplenty for two pretty important days in our distillery diary. We’d love for you to be part of the celebrations, whether joining us in Harris for a dram and a dance in one of the local bars that weekend, or by visiting us when The Hearach bottles go on sale at the distillery.

For those further afield, we invite you to join us online for an hour-long livestream from our distillery where we’ll be sharing a few stories, enjoying some island music, and raising a glass together for the first time.

Simply go to www.harrisdistillery.com/behere from 14.15 BST on 22.09.23

And don’t forget to buy a bottle (or two) when our online store opens at 10.00 BST on 23.09.23m. If you have any questions or queries, then click HEREHERE , and HERE to find the answers to lots of queries from past Journals.

Or, scroll down for more info on the latest updates happenings from here in Harris…

Slàinte mhor, and as ever here’s to The Hearach!

Be Here With Us + FAQS

For those of you who will be in Harris over The Hearach launch weekend, there will be a few ways to join in the celebrations. On the evening of Friday 22nd there will be live music in the bars of Hotel Hebrides and the Harris Hotel in Tarbert from our friends Tosh and Costello.

Drams of our whisky will also be served to the public for the first time so please come along to enjoy our spirit and plenty of fine tunes. On Saturday 23rd our distillery doors open at 10.00am and the shop shelves will be full of bottles of The Hearach single malt whisky for you to buy.

There will also be an opportunity to sample the batches and we’ll also have live music by The Ragin’ Ceilidh Band from 2pm. That evening we’ll be heading over to the Mote Bar of Hotel Hebrides to enjoy more live music as we keep the island spirit flowing…

Hope to see some of you there!

With two weeks to go until we launch our island’s historic first dram, we’ve been inundated with messages of excitement and enthusiasm. So much so, we anticipate that demand for The Hearach here on the island and in our online shop may outstrip supply when the 23rd of September comes round.

So, we’ve decided to bottle one more batch of The Hearach to add to the original seven planned for our inaugural release, and make it available via our website and at the distillery. Batch number eight was originally set to arrive in early 2024 but we are pleased to now make it available in time for the launch weekend.

We hope this final addition to ‘The First Release’ helps ensure more of those who wish to enjoy our whisky this year may be able to do so.

Slàinte mhath!

If you buy a bottle (or two) of The Hearach Single Malt over launch weekend we’ll be working very hard to make sure your order is fulfilled as quickly as possible.

However, we expect to receive a high number of orders through our UK online store and so things may take a little longer to pack and process than usual.

We will confirm the exact shipping estimates with you next week but please be aware that the normal 3 working days delivery window usually in place will not apply over the launch period, and up to 3 weeks may be more likely.

Thank you in advance for your patience!

Our historic single malt whisky takes its name from the Scottish Gaelic word for a native of Harris. Like many words in our language, it can sometime be a little tricky to trip off the tongue.

So, watch our film and let’s help you say The Hearach!

WE’D LOVE FOR YOU TO SAY IT WITH US TOO!

Simply take a quick video on your phone of yourself, friends and family saying it and send us the video. Just a few seconds will do.

We welcome any language, pronunciation, setting, or situation so don’t be shy and we’ll then create a wee compilation to share with the world!
