Laphroaig 25 Year Old is a rare and desired annual release, from one of Scotland’s most iconic distilleries. With spirits aged in ex-bourbon casks, carefully matured for 25 years, this non-chill filtered malt is a subtle and elegant Whisky featuring notes of sweet vanilla, oak and signature Islay peat smoke. The exceptional character of this expression, intertwined with Laphroaig’s signature flavours, makes it truly one to savour.
NOSE
Sweet and floral with honey and pear drop. Bubble-gum and strong thyme fragrance linger on the nose. Pot-pourri and geranium with light carnation and white pepper, fresh peat, Islay seaweed with a hint of lemon complete this complex aroma.
PALATE
Sweet, herbal and medicinal with notes of heather honey and light wood smoke, lime, salt, iodine and black pepper marinade, spices. Also carnation, clementine zest and medicinal notes.
FINISH
The finish is dry with notes of spring flowers and a hint of sea salt.
SERVING SUGGESTION
Neat, or with a few drops of water and at least 45 minutes of your time in a comfy chair to be able to savor the last 25 years this liquid has been maturing patiently for.
Laphroaig’s whisky making tradition has been passed down by distillery managers since the first drop rolled off the still in 1815. Ian Hunter, Bessie Williamson, John MacDougal, Denise Nicole, Iain Henderson and the incumbent John Campbell were all protective custodians of the art of Laphroaig.
Each brought their own influence, of course, but all respected the unique elements that make Laphroaig the whisky it is. The Kilbrid Stream, hand-cut peat, floor malted barley, cold-smoking kilns, mash tuns, copper alchemy and the subtlety of oak aging.
