Aberdeen Whisky Shop ‘Murray McDavid Macallan 30 Years Old ULTRA’ – Scotch Whisky News

Murray McDavid

Macallan 30 Years Old ULTRA

ABV: 43.3% 70 cL

This rare and precious Macallan spirit started its 30-year journey in an American oak ex-bourbon hogshead. It then lay for seven years in an Oloroso Sherry cask, where it was elegantly infused with mellow fruitiness. To conclude its three-decade journey and to add a layer of opulence, it was finally filled into a PX Sherry cask from Murray McDavid’s wood partners Ximénez-Spínola in Jerez, Spain.

Indulgent fresh honeycomb and sweet toffee aromas gently rise from the glass, followed by creamy barley sugars that bind beautifully with a hint of fig and pastry. Moreish baking spice of cinnamon and nutmeg follow to tingle the palate, along with milk chocolate and a suggestion of coffee and ginger biscuits. The satisfying finish is generous, leaving you with a memorable kiss of sweet Sherry.

DISCOVER THE HEARACH OLOROSO SINGLE MALT – Scotch Whisky News

Our second whisky expression is The Hearach First Fill Oloroso Cask Matured single malt. Every drop has been matured entirely in specially picked sherry casks sourced from our friends at Bodega Jose Miguel Martin in south-west Spain. Their dry, dark and nutty Oloroso sherry influences the oak wood of the butts, which in turn imparts an unmistakably bold richness to our spirit. The result is a wonderful way to enjoy a Harris dram, full of aromatic vanilla and cloves, oranges and mixed herbs, walnut and white chocolate. From the sunshine and heat of Jerez to the heart of Harris, this is a perfect whisky for the brighter days ahead…

OBAN, SCOTLAND – The Hebridean Whisky Trail is set to make waves on the mainland this spring with the launch of its first-ever Hebridean Whisky Show. On Saturday, 25 April 2026, the trail journeys to Oban for a one-day takeover of the iconic MacGregor’s at the Whisky Vaults.

This inaugural showcase offers whisky enthusiasts a rare opportunity to experience the collective character of the Hebrides in a single location. Attendees can expect to experience exclusive tastings and expert-led masterclasses, enhanced with the much-loved live traditional music of MacGregor’s.

“We are thrilled to bring the spirits of the Hebrides to Oban,” said Cindy Campbell, Development Manager of the Hebridean Whisky Trail. “This show is designed to be a sensory bridge between the mainland and the islands, offering a preview of the wild and beautiful whisky adventure that awaits those who travel the trail itself.”

The April event serves as a prelude to the annual Hebridean Whisky Festival, which returns from 5–12 September 2026. Throughout the festival week, member distilleries will host a series of exclusive tours, warehouse tastings, and cultural events on their home soil. The celebrations will reach a crescendo on Saturday, 12 September, with the Festival Finale at the Isle of Raasay Distillery. The finale will unite all trail members for a grand celebration featuring a Q&A panel with the makers, rare drams, and live music.

Whether you are a seasoned connoisseur or a curious newcomer, the Hebridean Whisky Trail invites you to join them in 2026 for a journey through the landscapes, people, and spirits that define Scottish island life.

Aberdeen Whisky Shop ~ Linkwood 14 Years Old “Skene Dhu” – Scotch Whisky News

Skene Scotch Whisky LTD

Linkwood 14 Years Old “Skene Dhu”

ABV: 48% 70 cL

This single malt from Linkwood Distillery in the Speyside region of Scotland is known for producing a light, floral spirit. It was distilled in 2011 and aged for 14 years, spending it’s last maturing period in an European Oak Ex-Oloroso cask before bottling in 2025. It was bottled by Skene Scotch Whisky for the “Skene Dhu” collection, at natural cask strength, natural colour and no chill filtration.

Established in 1821 on the outskirts of Elgin in Speyside, Linkwood is celebrated for its refined, floral, and fruity single malts. The distillery’s slow distillation process, using traditional wooden washbacks and large copper stills, produces a smooth, aromatic spirit known for elegance and depth. Much of Linkwood’s whisky is used in top-quality blends such as Johnnie Walker and White Horse, though its single malts are highly regarded for their gentle sweetness and complexity. Now owned by Diageo, Linkwood continues to embody the classic, graceful character that defines Speyside whisky.

Isle of Harris Distillery ‘Discover our Whiskies’ – Scotch Whisky News

Our whiskies may be made in Harris, but part of their story always begins in Kentucky. Much of the new-make spirit for our single malts spend time maturing in ex-bourbon casks sourced from distilleries in the USA.

By law, American bourbon must be aged in brand new, charred oak barrels. Once used, those casks can’t be used again for bourbon, so they travel across the Atlantic for a second life here in our warehouses. At the distillery, our casks come from some of Kentucky’s best-known producers, namely Buffalo Trace, Heaven Hill and Woodford Reserve.

These American oak barrels play a huge role in shaping the character of our dram, whether enjoyed in its purest form in our limited single cask releases or as part of the recipes used in The Hearach range. There are historic connections between our islands and the Bluegrass state too, as many islanders emigrated there over a century ago, so the connections of people and place also stay alive in this special way.
