The Whisky Shop ‘Meet The Glendronach Boynsmill House Edition’ – Scotch Whisky News

200 Years, one very special whisky.
Meet The Glendronach Boynsmill House Edition

Some anniversaries call for a cake. Others call for a whisky. To celebrate 200 years of The Glendronach, the Highland distillery has gone right back to where its story began – Boynsmill House, the historic home on the estate where James Allardice founded the distillery in 1826. The result? Boynsmill House Edition, a limited 14 Year Old single malt created to mark two centuries of The Glendronach.

The Glendronach is famous for its rich, sherry-led style, so naturally Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez casks form the heart of this whisky. But there’s something a little unexpected here, too. Master Blender Rachel Barrie has selected a small number of Claret red wine casks to complement the whisky, bringing extra layers of fruit to the rich, robust Glendronach character.
It’s a subtle nod to the lavish gatherings once held at Boynsmill House, while bringing another layer of red fruit to the whisky. Think bramble and stone fruit alongside Highland toffee, hazelnut and raisin, leading into rich dried fruits, nuts, chocolate and caramel.

Boynsmill House takes us back to the very beginning of The Glendronach story – a fitting tribute to 200 years of the distillery’s heritage. It’s a whisky that looks back at where The Glendronach came from, while doing something a little different with the cask recipe.
Bottled at 46.8% ABV with only natural cask-imparted colour, Boynsmill House Edition is a limited release made to mark a milestone that doesn’t come around very often.
200 years of The Glendronach. One bottle to celebrate it.
