When something gets release like this in the world of whisky, it’s quite difficult to say no. A nearly three decade old Ardmore, matured in a refill hogshead for twenty-three years and finished in a second fill sherry hogshead for the final four.

An absolute masterclass in funky, old, waxy, rather delicate and gentle single malt that seems to evolve and change after every sip. I always wanted to have a DD bottle amongst the collection, but so many of them were so far out of my budget, this one was actually realistic, and rather good value for something nearly as old as me.

I love this thing and it’s a very apt way to celebrate a birthday!
