International Beverage takes flight with airport activations – Scotch Whisky News

International Beverage takes flight with airport activations

Today, (14.05.25) we are delighted to announce a series of major new travel retail activations for some of our award-winning brands including Old Pulteney and Balblair single malt Scotch whiskies.

The activations are being run in partnership with Avolta World Duty Free and Lagardère Travel Retail stores in airports across the UK and France throughout May 2025, with the installations signalling our most high-profile activations in the channel to date.

To kickstart the month-long campaign, Old Pulteney’s travel retail exclusive range, which includes the whisky’s 10, 13 and 16 Years Old expressions, was showcased in Heathrow Terminal 2 throughout April and will be on display in Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport throughout May. An eye-catching instillation pays homage to the single malt’s rich maritime heritage with coastal images and blue hues transporting travellers to its home on the northern-most shores of Wick, Scotland.

To further incentivise travellers, those who buy a bottle of Old Pulteney 16 Years Old at Charles de Gaulle Airport during the month of May will receive an exclusive complimentary Old Pulteney branded Chilly’s Series 2 Stainless Steel Drinks Bottle (500ml) worth £32.

International Beverage is also running digital tasting experiences with Avolta for other brands within our premium spirits portfolio. Travellers will be able to enjoy a range of expressions from Balblair Highland Scotch whisky which uses only the finest ingredients to craft a distinctive, characterful single malt as well as having the opportunity to sample our handcrafted small-batch gin, Caorunn.

Tasting bars will be available in Manchester Airport Terminal 2 and Gatwick North throughout May for Balblair, showcasing the brand’s 12, 15 and 17 Years Old travel retail expressions.

Edith Ng, Head of Global Travel Retail at International Beverage said:

“We’re very excited to bring some of our much-loved brands to life to those travelling through European airports this Spring. The travel retail channel is hugely important to our business and our partnerships with Avolta and Lagardère are another example of our ongoing commitment to investing in the sector.  We are confident that our in-store activations will really connect with travellers and give them the opportunity to try our premium spirits brands for themselves.”

THE FALKLAND COLLECTION LAUNCHES FIRST-EVER WHISKY – Scotch Whisky News

THE FALKLAND COLLECTION LAUNCHES FIRST-EVER WHISKY

A bold new chapter in Scotch whisky begins where the story first started; today Falkland Whisky proudly announces their inaugural release from Speyside – honouring the historic roots of Scotch whisky and offering a fresh perspective for modern whisky drinkers.

The Falkland Collection has launched their first-ever bottling The Falkland Collection Speyside Single Malt* – a bright and expressive Speyside single malt, aged in re-fill Oloroso sherry casks from Jerez, Spain. The first in a brand-new collection aims to bring approachable, quality whisky to enthusiasts around the world.

Carefully curated through long-standing relationships with distilleries, The Falkland Whisky Collection brings together single malts that offer both complexity and accessibility. Available to trade & stockists now, the whisky can be enjoyed neat, with water, or in a carefully crafted cocktail – Falkland Whisky is aimed to suit any occasion.

A RENOWNED REGION

The first-ever Falkland Whisky is a Speyside single malt carefully selected for its rich and full-bodied character. Known for its well-rounded profile and elegant malts, Speyside whisky offers both structure and complexity. The region’s relatively mild climate and soft water sources contribute to the smooth and refined character of this dram.

Only the finest sherry casks were meticulously sourced from bodegas in Jerez, a region known for its wine making heritage, and chosen to enhance this Speyside expression’s depth. The interaction between the liquid and the seasoned wood elevates the drinking experience, bringing a balance of richness and vibrancy.

A CONTEMPORARY CLASSIC FROM HISTORIC SOIL

Steeped in legend and craftsmanship, The Falkland Whisky Collection draws inspiration from the very place where Scotch whisky’s earliest records begin – the royal burgh of Falkland, beneath the Lomond Hills in the Kingdom of Fife.

Just 200 yards from Falkland Palace, where King James IV in 1494 famously commissioned Friar Jon Cor for the first recorded distillation of “aqua vitae,” the Falkland Whisky collection brings Scotland’s proud distilling legacy into the present day.

The Falkland Whisky team offered their thoughts on the launch: “Our mission is to honour the roots of Scotch whisky by making it more accessible and engaging for a new generation. Falkland has always been a place of significance in Scotland’s whisky story and we’re very honoured to be bottling whisky here.”

“Our first release from Speyside really can be enjoyed neat, with water or in a delicious cocktail – the goal is to make The Falkland Collection attractive to whisky lovers all over the world. Those who are looking to broaden their horizons and enjoy a collection of the best approachable and affordable Single Malts, however they like to drink it.”

As the first-in-series, The Falkland Collection Speyside Single Malt marks the beginning of a journey that will take whisky lovers across Scotland’s regions and flavours. Each bottle carries the soul of its origin, curated with care and bottled in the birthplace of Scotch whisky.

The Falkland Collection is available for trade and stockists to enquire on their website now at: www.falkland1494.com

JULY 2025

AUCTION NOW LIVE!

We are delighted to offer some old, rare and limited bottlings in this month’s auction, including this Macallan Diamond Jubilee. Released in 2012 to mark the 60th anniversary of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II. A limited release of only 2012 bottles were made available at 52% abv, celebrating the year of her coronation. The whisky itself was drawn on the 8th of February, marking the exact date of the coronation.

Released in 2015, Vintage 1989 is one of two Old Pulteney small batch limited editions in this range. This particular release was matured using American Oak ex-Bourbon barrels that had previously held heavily peated malt. The year of distillation and bottling year indicates that the age of the of the whisky is a minimum of 25 years old.

Released in 1988 to replace the 12 Years Old expression, Lagavulin 16 Years Old was intended to be a limited edition. However, such was the popularity and demand for this highly acclaimed Islay expression, it has remained an integral part of the Classic Malts range ever since. This is the earlier White Horse version which is becoming increasing desirable.

This 21 Year Old Imperial was distilled at the now demolished distillery back in 1996 before being bottled by the dynamic Dornoch-based Independent bottlers the Thompson Brothers. One of only 152 bottles produced.

Decadent Drams Blended Grain 52 years old – Scotch Whisky News

Decadent Drams Blended Grain 52 years old

This Decadent Drams bottling is a 1972, 52 year old single refill barrel of blended grain whisky. No, we don’t have a scooby which grain distillates went into this potion back in 1972. All we know is that it tastes old, mechanical, medicinal, sweet, fruity and luscious. It’s like drinking a coconut full of rum inside the mind of a sentient pineapple that’s learned how to operate heavy machinery and has since unionised with the other tropical fruits and is now causing headaches for the Labour government.
