The Y.A. #2 (Yakushima Aged) is the next installment in Mars’ blended malt series from the Komagatake and Tsunuki distilleries. The whiskies are married together and aged entirely on the island of Yakushima approximately 60km off the southern coast of Kyushu. The year round rain, subtropical temperatures, and insane humidity has an intense effect on the whisky. The 2nd release has a smokier profile than the first. Think grilled pears, black tea, honey with sea salt and you’re in the ballpark. Aged in ex-bourbon and sherry barrels. 15ppm, 49% ABV.
