2006 Craigellachie 15 Year Old “Old Particular” K&L Exclusive Cask Strength Single Sherry Butt Speyside Single Malt – Scotch Whisky News

2006 Craigellachie 15 Year Old “Old Particular” K&L Exclusive Cask Strength Single Sherry Butt Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky (750ml)

$99.99 View

Another stupendous sherried Craigellachie from Old Particular. Like last year’s 16 Year Old, this butt retains significant distillery character while not forgetting that sherry aged in it for decades. The fabulous distillery just across the river from the famous Macallan distillery was once one of Speyside’s most undervalued. Now, due to repositioning and tariffs, even the entry level distillery offerings seem out of reach in value terms, let alone their extremely well regarded “Exceptional Cask” bottlings, which have gone up in price 30-40% over the last year. We’ve managed, on the other hand, to lower the price of this exceptional malt by over $20 for something of equal or greater quality and just one year younger than the former offering. The bold sometimes funky malt character of Craighellachie does wonders when married with Sherry and the resulting malt won’t disappoint sherry lovers, although it’s not the sweet raisin-y style some drinkers have come to associate with modern sherry-matured single malt. Instead, it’s deeply complex and slightly esoteric style that will appeal to drinkers looking for something more classical and contemplative.

Evan Williams Bourbon announces 2022 class of American-Made Heroes to be featured on limited-edition bottles nationwide

Evan Williams Bourbon announces 2022 class of American-Made Heroes
to be featured on limited-edition bottles nationwide

Evan Williams American Hero bottles feature one of six veterans selected for their acts of service

BARDSTOWN, Ky. (May, 2022) – A select group of veterans are the new Evan Williams American-Made Heroes, recognized as those who are making a difference in their communities and across our country.

Evan Williams Bourbon announced today the 2022 class of veterans selected as American-Made Heroes to be featured on the limited-edition Evan Williams American Hero bottles. Each of the six veterans are affiliated with organizations that were recipients of the 2021 Veteran Community Action Grants awarded by the Evan Williams American-Made Heroes Foundation Fund.

First established in 2020, the American-Made Heroes Foundation Fund continues the brand’s support of veteran communities since launching the Evan Williams American-Made Heroes program and limited-edition label in 2015. To date, Evan Williams has recognized 48 veteran heroes on its American Hero Edition bottles and has donated $450,000 to nonprofits supporting the veteran community across the country.

“As an American-made and American-owned Bourbon, we are proud to celebrate the heroic stories of military veterans, chosen for their selfless acts of service at home and abroad,” Julie Cole, Evan Williams Bourbon Senior Brand Manager said. “The purpose of the foundation is not only to provide a platform for sharing their inspiring stories, but also raising public awareness for causes impacting the veteran community and supporting nonprofit organizations that help veterans and their families.”

The 2022 Evan Williams American-Made Heroes are:

Chris Reder

Warner, S.D.,

Petty Officer, U.S. Navy

Chris joined the U.S. Navy and graduated from the U.S. Military Intelligence School, where he trained to be a Cryptologic Naval Intelligence Operator. After later sustaining a traumatic brain injury and being medically separated from the Navy, Chris returned to his South Dakota roots to establish what is now the DTOM 22/0 Foundation and Veterans Ranch, a safe place for healing and recovery for military service members, veterans, and their families. Gunnery Sergeant, U.S. Marine Corps

Alan first enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and later joined the U.S. Marine Corps where he worked with a total of five military service dogs during his 11 years there. Feeling restless in his retirement, Alan continued to pursue his passion of working with canines and in 2018 he founded WhiteHaven Canine Evaluators, a nonprofit organization that currently serves 15–24 veterans annually by selecting and training dogs to be life-saving Emotional Support Animals. Shirley Dominick

Major, U.S. Air Force (RET.)

Shirley worked in communications for the U.S. Air Force for 22 years, leading critical initiatives at the Pentagon and across Europe. Upon retirement, she continued to help others by volunteering with her church which led to co-founding the organization Serve Our Willing Warriors and later opening the Warrior Retreat Center at Bull Run, providing a much-needed break for recovering service members at military hospitals. DeAndria L. Hardy

Spartanburg, S.C.

Corporal, U.S. Marine Corps

DeAndria served as an Ammunition Tech and Squad Leader as part of Operation Western Accord in 2012. She was later honorably discharged and struggled to find the support she needed as a female veteran. DeAndria continued to fight to improve her circumstances and launched the BattleBetty Foundation in August 2018. BattleBetty is South Carolina’s first Women Veteran Resource Center providing emergency shelter, a clothes closet, and empowerment workshops to female veterans. Marilyn deployed to Iraq as a full-time U.S. Army medic, where she assisted in providing medical care to over 4,000 troops. She served for 13 years before untreated Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) led to her medical retirement. She then became involved with Shamrock Reins, a specialized equine therapy center offering complimentary services to military veterans. Marilyn joined the board in 2015 and remains committed to the ongoing success of the organization and assisting fellow service members in their transition to civilian life. To learn more about Shamrock Reins, visit https://shamrockreins.org.

Mike Arena

Shalimar, Fla.

Master Sergeant, U.S. Air Force (RET.)

After numerous deployments around the world as an Operational Medic with the U.S. Air Force, Mike was diagnosed with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). He was medically retired after serving for more than 23 years and joined a program that paired service dogs with veterans. The restorative therapy Mike received from his own service dog, Orion, became the genesis for Healing Paws for Warriors (HP4Ws), a nonprofit organization Mike co-founded. Healing Paws for Warriors provides rescue to trained service dogs to combat veterans faced with PTSD, TBI and/or MST at no cost to the veteran. Kentucky Distillers’ Association Welcomes Allison Delande as Director of Special Projects

Kentucky Distillers’ Association Welcomes Allison Delande as Director of Special Projects

FRANKFORT, Ky. – The Kentucky Distillers’ Association today announced that Allison Delande has joined the historic non-profit trade group as its first-ever Director of Special Projects.

An events management, marketing and branding expert, Delande spent the past 20 years strategically developing, building and managing brands through multiple channels, including in-person experiences, web, marketing, advertising and fund-raising.

“We’ve had the pleasure of working directly with Allison on several key events and initiatives over the last few years and have been incredibly impressed with her work ethic, passion, professionalism and expertise,” KDA President Eric Gregory said.

“Allison’s experience will greatly benefit the KDA and our members as we continue to market and grow the profile of Kentucky Bourbon around the world and strengthen the Commonwealth’s title as the one, true and authentic home for Bourbon.”

At the KDA, Delande will coordinate and elevate KDA-related events and initiatives, including the Kentucky Bourbon Hall of Fame®, Order of the Writ®, the Kentucky Bourbon Affair™, KDA Annual Meeting, legislative receptions and other special projects and internal events.

Delande said she looks forward to using her talents to widen the impact of Kentucky Bourbon.

“I’m truly grateful for this opportunity to join the KDA and further highlight its key initiatives,” Delande said. “Kentucky’s Bourbon industry is on an outstanding trajectory and I look forward to helping it achieve ever greater success.”

Delande comes to KDA from Minnick Media Inc., where she managed day-to-day operations, programming and experiential marketing for Fred Minnick’s growing business and brand.

“Allison is going on to new and additional great opportunities with the KDA. It’s a hard loss for my organization, seeing such a multi-talented employee and outstanding person leave my company, but her transition is great for Bourbon at large,” Minnick said.

“Working with the KDA, Allison will bring her knowledge and depth of experience to initiatives that benefit the entire industry. I look forward to partnering with her and the KDA on Bourbon-related events in the months and years ahead.”

Born near Toronto, Canada, Delande grew up in Cincinnati and received her bachelor’s in fine arts from Northern Kentucky University. After moving from Chicago to Louisville in 2007 with her family, she served as marketing and event coordinator for the Louisville Water Company, managed all aspects of the Louisville Certified Tourism Ambassador program, and worked with Bourbon Women Association.

She and her husband, Keith, have 16-year-old twins and live in Prospect.

Founded in 1880, the KDA is the voice for Bourbon and spirits issues. Its diverse membership produces the overwhelming majority of the world’s Bourbon, from legendary, global brands to emerging micro distilleries that are building the next generation of America’s only native spirit.

Bourbon is one of Kentucky’s most treasured industries, a thriving $9 billion economic and tourism engine sustaining more than 22,500 jobs with an annual payroll topping $1.23 billion each year, over $285 million in local and state taxes and $1.8 billion in federal alcohol taxes.

A key export, the iconic industry is currently in the middle of a $5.2 billion building boom, from innovative new tourism experiences to expanded production facilities, bottling centers and aging warehouses, all to meet the growing global thirst for Kentucky Bourbon.

Bourbon production has skyrocketed more than 435% since the turn of the century.

Kentucky now boasts more than 10.3 million barrels of Bourbon aging in warehouses across the Bluegrass, the most in its revered distilling history. Distillers filled more than 2.4 million barrels in 2020 alone, the third year in a row that production topped the two million mark.

Attendance at the KDA’s Kentucky Bourbon Trail® and Kentucky Bourbon Trail Craft Tour® experiences continue their rapid rebound from COVID and closures, up 160% in total attendance from last year and just down slightly from the pre-pandemic record in 2019.

ONE FANCIES A SHERRY
IN CELEBRATION OF THE QUEEN’S PLATINUM JUBILEE

Cak No. 108.58

Casks: First Fill PX Barrique

Age: 13 years

On the nose we discovered “two sides of a coin”. One being dark chocolate cherry liqueurs while, flipping it over, there was a funky scent of roasted beetroot and goat cheese tart. Massive on the palate, a creamy spicy jalapeno jam next to toasted, flaked almonds and a coffee bitterness in the finish. Diluted, an apple and cinnamon turnover, prune juice and on the other side, mushroom pie and tar. While to taste, hoisin sauce, ginger cake and glace cherries. After 11 years in an ex-bourbon hogshead, we transferred this whisky into a first fill barrique from a privately owned small bodegas, now in its 9th generation, that focuses exclusively on the Pedro Ximenez grape.
