Scotch Whisky Auctions “134th closes this Sunday!” – Scotch Whisky News

134th Closes This Sunday

Our 134th auction is now well underway and bidding has begun in earnest.  Here are a few fantastic bottles which might have slipped under your radar this month.

Glen Grant 1959 Samaroli

This is a fantastically rare bottling of Glen Grant 1959 from celebrated Italian independent bottler Samaroli.  Samaroli bottlings are prized in general, but older examples like this are always coveted. Rich in colour and highly rated by whisky afficionados internationally this bottle is definitely one to keep your eye on in the current auction.

Glenlivet 80 Year Old Gordon & MacPhail Generations with Sample Set

With thousands of bottles every month in our auctions we’ve seen it all, but even for us it’s rare to get a bottle as special as this.  The oldest whisky ever produced when first released this fabulous Glenlivet was distilled way back in 1940 and spent a remarkable 80 years in cask before finally being bottled.  Expensive sure, but a thing of rare beauty and unrivalled exclusivity.

Laphroaig Over 12 Year Old 80º Proof Cadenhead’s

Another older bottling this one, a tremendous Laphroaig Over 12 Year Old 80º Proof Cadenhead’s.  Hailing from the era of Cadenhead’s still being based in Aberdeen this bottling is most likely from the 1960’s and constitutes a piece of Scottish distilling history, marking a time before one of Scotland’s most distinguishged independent bottlers decamped to their current home of Campbeltown.

Macallan 1949 50 Year Old Millennium

We have not one but two magnificient whiskies distilled in the forties this month, and this Macallan 1949 50 Year Old Millennium is a tremendous specimen indeed.  Bottled in 1999 to celebrate the millenium this incredibly rare liquid is contained in an elegant hand-made Caithness decanter and is a marriage of three of the rarest Spanish sherry oak casks.
