 Glenfarclas has a proven track record for aging very well. I’ve enjoyed some amazing 25 and 30 year old expressions, in addition to some older vintage offerings. Does this new 40 year old follow suit? Absolutely! It’s complex and well-rounded, with great depth and no excessive oak. Lush, candied citrus (especially orange), old pot still rum, maple syrup, fig, roasted nuts, and polished leather, with hints of mocha, candied ginger, and tobacco. A bit oily in texture (which I find soothing) with good tannic grip on the finish. A classic, well-matured Glenfarclas — and a very good value for its age. *Editor’s Choice* (JH, Fall 2010)

 There aren’t many 40-year-old Scotches out there. This one makes its age known with a deep nut-brown color and a modest booziness on the nose, in addition to deep toffee, cocoa and hazelnut aromas. Oak is the dominant flavor, finishing with dry cocoa and leather accents. Water helps tease out additional orange peel, nutmeg and toasted coconut tones. Velvety feel. (KN)  (12/2011)

High West Distillery was founded in 2006 by David Perkins and his wife, Jane. David, a former biochemist, was inspired to open his own distillery after seeing the parallels between the fermentation and distilling process and his own work in biochemistry during a trip to a whiskey distillery in Kentucky.

In 2004, David and his family relocated to Park City, Utah to begin their new venture, where they began distilling in 2007. They chose Park City because of David’s love of the Old West and Utah’s little-known whiskey history.

The tasting will consist of great tasting Rye with a rich smooth bourbons to a little mixing between America and Scotland for the campfire style. A fun and inspirational whiskey tasting event.

At a black tie event held in Central Manchester at the beginning of April, Greg & Kirsty were brought on stage to receive their Business of the Year (under £1m turnover) award, given out for showing ‘incredible resilience’ through the covid pandemic as well as opening up new revenue streams and business opportunities around the world whilst everything was going on during the midst of the lockdowns, especially the virtual tasting business they built that helped grow revenue 80%.

Greg Dillon says: “We never expect to win awards, we enter them in the quest for validation for what we are doing and to use as a barometer for the quality and flavour of the releases we are bottling. To win the two highest medals you can in world whisky and to be named Business of the Year has been a whirlwind – we truly are humbled and blown away by three separate whisky awards panels giving us gold medals this year as well as the MEN Business Awards. WEYBRIDGE, Vt., May 17, 2022—Lost Lantern, an independent bottler of American whiskey that launched less than 18 months ago, is pleased to announce their Summer 2022 collection, featuring seven limited edition single casks from six celebrated craft distilleries: McCarthy’s in Oregon, Frey Ranch in Nevada, Starlight in Indiana, Dad’s Hat in Pennsylvania, St. George in California, and Balcones in Texas.

Frey Ranch grows all the grain for all of its whiskies, making it one of the only true estate distilleries in the U.S. This 5-year-old straight bourbon is one of the first three-grain whiskies ever to come from Frey Ranch. It has notes of chocolate, clove, spearmint, and balanced oak and is more spice- and fruit-driven than their traditional four-grain style.

This straight rye whiskey, Lost Lantern’s first from Dad’s Hat and first from Pennsylvania, was aged in a 53-gallon barrel for 5 years. This style-bending whiskey, born and raised in the Texas heat, marries clean and elegant single malt with unusual flavors rarely seen in whiskey. It has butterscotch, graham crackers, and chili chocolate on the nose. The light, spicy palate has honey, lemon pepper, and even hints of lime. Perfect for summer.

Lady of the Glen was named the Icon of Whisky Independent Bottler of the year at the 2022 Whisky Magazine Icons of Whisky awards held at the Honourable Artillery Company (HAC) City Road, London.

Returning to London as an in-person event, the global awards ceremony saw the announcement of the World Whiskies Awards and the Icons of Whisky global winners.

Following the team winning the Icons of Whisky Independent Bottler of the year Scotland category we were submitted into the International category which took place in London. The winner was selected by blind tasting review of stock and an application so were over the moon to win based on our spirit quality.

Award-winning Islay Malt, Big Peat, today reveals his special bottling for Fèis Ìle 2022: Big Peat Beach BBQ Edition.

Offered at a natural cask strength of 54.2%, the new release is strictly limited to 3,000 bottles globally. Fans of the “cult” Islay Malt can expect tasting notes of “smoky, maple-cured bacon”, “charred oak” and “chewy salted toffee”.

The limited edition Scotch Whisky is packaged in a premium gift tube, with the brand’s “signature” yellow colourways complemented by deep navy.
