Spirit Of Art – Single Malt and Beautiful Original Art Print at Hard To Find Whisky – Scotch Whisky News

Each Spirit of Art release is from a single carefully selected cask of Single Malt Scotch Whisky.

Each cask is celebrated by the commissioning of an original artwork from an established Scottish artist.

The bottling is accompanied by a print from the original painting printed on museum grade acid free paper, individually numbered and signed by the artist to match the number of bottles drawn from the cask, then safely secured in the tube to partner the Whisky.

Every bottle, every painting, and every signed print are unique, providing an emotional connection to the place where these exceptional whiskies were crafted.

Whisky Wednesday Reviews Clonakilty Single Grain 43.6% – Irish Whisky News

https://youtu.be/xeUbxAKDOTk

I like grain…technically, we all do. But as a lighter, easier and more affordable style of whisky, it really can rock the world of whisky drinkers.

This Single Grain from Clonakilty is finished in Bordeaux casks, prior to which it was sat in ex-bourbon and both have imparted some wonderful flavours of strawberry, chocolate, cherry and caramelised white chocolate. These are all things I love and now there’s booze too!

Another fun and very well put-together example of Clonakilty’s style!

Bimber Distillery reveals 2021 Country Collection – English Whisky News

Bimber Distillery reveals 2021 Country Collection

2021 Country Collection consists of twenty-four cask strength single cask London single malt whiskies

Eight new countries added to the growing Country Collection roster

London’s Bimber Distillery today announced the release of its 2021 Country Collection of single cask, single malt whiskies. Following the well-received 2020 Collection which sold out worldwide, new editions have been exclusively bottled for Australia, Belgium, China, Denmark, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Taiwan and the USA.

2021 sees eight new locations added to the Country Collection roster with Austria, Bulgaria, Canada, Israel, Japan, Nigeria, South Africa and Switzerland all receiving their first exclusive Bimber releases.

Each exceptional cask was selected to showcase Bimber’s award-winning single malt spirit with the unique personalities derived from a variety of different cask types including: ex-bourbon; Pedro Ximenez finished ex-bourbon; madeira finished ex-bourbon; ruby port and ex-rye whiskey casks.

Bimber’s 2021 Country Collection continues the worldwide expansion of the London-based distillery and recognises the flourishing demand for the craft producer’s single malt whiskies. Fourteen expressions will be released over the summer with the remaining ten releases following later in the year.

Each of the Country Collection Editions were crafted to Bimber’s exacting standards. The spirit was produced from the distillery’s single farm barley and malted on a dedicated floor at Warminster Maltings before being fermented for seven days in bespoke, on-site constructed American oak washbacks. Distillation took place in Bimber’s customised stills, which possess an increased copper surface area, resulting in a light and fruity, but layered new make spirit.

Speaking of the upcoming release of the 2021 Collection, Bimber Distillery spokesperson Matt McKay said: “Each expression within our 2021 Country Collection celebrates the individuality of our growing selection of cask styles. Our exploration of the flavour possibilities of cask experimentation reflects how our traditional processes can be employed to produce impactful and delightfully flavourful results from a wide variety of wood types. As the distillery grows, we are excited to be able to share these exceptional single cask releases with an ever-widening number of worldwide Bimber drinkers.”

Maltstock tastings, two more names! – Maltstock Whisky News

We hope everyone is enjoying a relaxed as possible summer. We’re looking forward to meeting you all in September for a safe and relaxed Maltstock!

As always there will be many relaxed tastings for you to chose from at Maltstock, all included in your ticket! The full line-up will be on the website soon. Here are two more names we can now announce:

Annette, Bob, Klaas, Stan, Teun

You’ll probably remember David Stirk. He used to own the Creative Whisky Company. And was well known for his very relaxed bottlings with a great value for money! After selling his company he has been living a relaxed life. He is still very much involved with whisky. At Maltstock he will be presenting some very relaxed bottlings of First Cask by Whisky Import Netherlands. David has told us he also got some new joke books.

American Whisky

It’s with great relaxedness we can announce that Norbert Tebarts is joining us again at Maltstock this year. There’s probably no one in the Netherlands with more knowledge about (and certainly not with more enthusiasm and passion for) American whisky. It’s always a great joy to be educated and entertained by Norbert. We’re already looking forward to what relaxed surprises Norbert will bring this year.

Maltstock tickets

If you’re looking for a relaxed weekend and meeting old and new friends:

if you haven’t got a ticket yet then it’s time to get relaxed! We still have a few tickets available in our shop: https://www.maltstock.com/shop

Please do check out the information regarding Covid-19. By following these regulations we can have a safe and very relaxed Maltstock!

Stay healthy everyone, stay relaxed and we hope to see you in September!

Maltstock and COVID-19

New temporary covid measures are in place in the Netherlands until August 13th. By then the number of fully vaccinated people is expected to be high. We are confident the restrictions will be lifted and we can have a normal safe and relaxed Maltstock. Of course we will keep you informed.

Scotch Whisky Auctions ‘122nd Live!’ – Scotch Whisky Auction News

A very warm, and we mean WARM, welcome here from the rather sultry sauna that is SWA HQ. Yes the sun is out and it’s very much ‘Taps Aff’ weather for us befuddled sweating Scots. Not even this sweltering heat though can distract our attention away from our most recent malty wonders!

New releases this month are plentiful, from the Macallan Concept No.3, Ardbeg 8 Year Old For Discussion and plenty of Lindores to be had.

Fresh in from Campbeltown is Springbank’s Hand Filled Distillery Exclusives. Call us biased but these are sure to be tasty and of course cask strength!

Tickling our taste buds we begin with a Highland Park 1964. Vatted from two refill hogsheads, this dram is all about the complex balance between environment, skill, hard work and patience. Not much can surpass a fine Orcadian single malt in a sleek black bottle, boxed in a wooden case featuring marquetry inspired by the wood carvings at the Urnes Stave Church in Norway!

Next in line is a Laphroaig 1980 27 Year Old.This Islay bomb is rich in colour, not surprising considering it’s been slumbering in the finest Oloroso sherry casks known to man for the best part of three decades. Not much can beat a ridiculously smoky AND sweet whisky, the best of both worlds. Well, that’s our opinion anyway.
