“The ImpEx Collection” 28 & 40 Year Olds at K&L California – Scotch Whisky News

We have a pair of Scotch whiskies that provide mind boggling value for money. The ImpEx Collection is a bottler with deep ties within the world of Scotch and, as such, they have access to rare single casks that fly under the radar. Cameronbridge, known as a workhorse brand for blending, also possesses masterful examples of aged whisky, such as this 28 year old—a proposition that rings in at a sub-$200 price. Even more rare is the 40 Year Old Single Sherry Butt #34. It’s almost impossible to find whisky of that age statement regardless of the price, but the fact that we can offer this bottling for $329.99 almost defies belief.
1980″The ImpEx Collection” 40 Year Old Single Sherry Butt #34 Cask Strength Blended Malt Scotch Whisky (750ml)
92 points Whisky Advocate
Bales of aged tobacco, damp autumnal leaves, aromatic backyard bonfire smoke, barrel staves soaked in aged sherry, dried fig, prune flesh, milk chocolate, and polished antique wood grab the attention of the olfactory system. Deep wells of concentrated dark fruits give this a studied intensity, with chocolate-hazelnut ganache, date, plum, and a dry finish reminiscent of barrel char and oak tannins. Majestic, one might say. (JM, Summer 2021)

Cameronbridge is one of Diageo’s workhorse grain whisky distilleries, creating the backbone for its world famous brands like Johnnie Walker and White Horse, while simultaneously serving as the home for grain neutral products like Tanqueray and Pimm’s. The dual purpose site is one of the biggest producers of spirit in the UK and because of that volume we can secure incredible pricing on very old whisky. If you have followed our single grain bottlings over the years, you will know what is to be had here.
