PRIVATELY OWNED WHISKY CASKS UP FOR AUCTION 

Three privately owned casks of whisky, currently owned by a Yorkshire businessman, are coming up for auction in North Yorkshire as part of Tennants Auctioneers’ Whisky and Fine Wine Sale on 17^th September. Bought by the vendor a little over 25 years ago, the casks have been sitting in bond at Deanston Distillery, Perthshire, aging with distinction over the years. Their sale offers buyers an excellent opportunity to own a truly wonderful product.

Leading the selection is the Macallan 1989 Single Malt Scotch Whisky Hogshead, on offer with an estimate of £80,000-120,000 plus 10% buyer’s premium. Filled in 1989, the cask has recently been re-gauged, and the cask will currently yield approximately 120 70cl bottles of 32-year-old Macallan. Tennants Auctioneers’ Whisky Specialist William McNab describes the whisky as being the colour of Chardonnay with a rich gold core, being very smooth on the palate with spicy high notes, a subtle and sophisticated nose with warm and fruity aromas, and lingering dry oaky tones to the finish.

Also on offer are two Hogsheads of 1995 Tobermory Single Malt Whisky, each offered with an estimate of £25,000-35,000 plus buyer’s premium.
