Distilled at Balblair in Edderton, this Highland single malt has been matured for at least a quarter of a century in American oak ex-bourbon casks and Spanish oak butts, before being bottled at 46% ABV to complete this full-bodied whisky. This 25-year-old expression is the pinnacle of the new Balblair range.
The nose opens with classic Balblair notes of orange and overripe apricots, with dark liquorice, mellow oak and saddle wax. The palate is oily and full bodied with citrus and chocolate pralines atop a hint of tobacco. The dram ends with a long and warming sensation of smooth blood oranges.
