New Arrivals at K&L California – American Whiskey News

First up, is the Heaven Hill American Whiskey Tasting set. Featured in this set is one 100ml sampling of Bernheim Wheat Whiskey, Larceny Wheated Bourbon, Evan Williams Single Barrel Bourbon, Elijah Craig Small Batch Bourbon, and Pikesville Rye. Essentially, the best brands from one of America’s most famous distilleries. Elsewhere you’ll find this set priced at $50, but we are offering at a one-time price of $19.99. This is an outstanding value and the perfect opportunity to explore the impressive range Heaven Hill offers. We’ve already had quite a run on these tasting sets and expect to blow through the remaining balance in a matter of days. Whether you are a whiskey drinker yourself or looking for a gift, this jaw-dropping value is a can’t miss opportunity.

Another great find four our whiskey drinkers is the Doc Swinson 15 Year Old “Rare Release” Exploratory Cask Series Nonchillfiltered Small Batch Cask Strength Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. As Bourbon collectors already know all too well, bottlings with significant age-statements like this one are increasingly hard to come by, and when they do, they cost a king’s ransom. $150 is a bargain for a whiskey of this pedigree. Bottled at cask strength and with the kind of powerful profile Bourbon drinkers crave, the juice here is nothing short of incredible. While we secured as many bottles as we could, deals like this are about as rare as they come. Please don’t sleep on this one, as it’s sure to sell out in a flash.

Heaven Hill American Whiskey Tasting Set 5-Pack (5x100ml) (Elsewhere $50) $19.99 View This tasting set features five 100 ml glass tubes: one each of Bernheim Wheat Whiskey, Larceny Wheated Bourbon, Evan Williams Single Barrel Bourbon, Elijah Craig Small Batch Bourbon, and Pikesville Rye. It’s a tour of nearly every mashbill from the legendary Heaven Hill portfolio at a stunning price. CAN NOT SHIP – only available via Will Call and Local Delivery

Doc Swinson 15 Year Old “Rare Release” Exploratory Cask Series Nonchillfiltered Small Batch Cask Strength Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey (750ml) (Pre-Arrival) $149.99 View Opportunities like this one are about as rare as hen’s teeth in the whisky world. Even more unusual about this incredible offering is the climate we’re in today. Bourbon is absolutely on fire. Anyone with any interest in alcohol is aware that old bourbon is next to impossible to get. Even if you get access to whisky over 12 years old, it’s likely valued by the seller at several multiples above the retail price. Most of the time those old whiskies aren’t even from Kentucky. When they are actually distilled in Kentucky, their value goes even higher. So to be able to offer our customers a significant quantity of old Kentucky bourbon at a reasonable price is an absolute privilege. Add the fact that it’s cask strength, real small batch and sold exclusively at K&L in California and you’ve got a recipe for an absolute legend. The parcel is less than 20 barrels, mingled together before leaving KY to protect the identity of the manufacturer. The mashbill gives us a few clues to the source: 78-79% corn with near equal parts of rye and barley. Similar recipes are produced everywhere from Beam to Heaven Hill or Buffalo Trace. Why would anyone sell off such excellent barrels? Likely they couldn’t market such a small parcel and didn’t want the stocks to bolster a local competitor. Lucky for us it left KY to be bottled in Washington state for this upstart brand and out of nowhere we get the most exciting new bourbon of 2020. Great old Kentucky Bourbon at retro prices.

Very Olde St. Nick “Summer Rye” Ancient Barrel Reserve Cask Strength Rye Whiskey (750ml) $199.99 View The Very Olde St Nick brand has long been a cult favorite. Initially bottled by Julian Van Winkle and subsequently by the Willett Family, VOSN now has its very own home in Bardstown – The Preservation Distillery. Of course, this old rye whiskey wasn’t distilled there, but drawn from the brands oldest stocks. The distillery is committed to producing whiskey the old way and sources it’s grains from local farms, mills on-site and always sour mashes. There’s no way of knowing just where this special old rye came from, but it’s widely considered one of the best bottles of rye coming out of Kentucky and the first time we’ve ever been able to sell this incredible brand stateside. How they’ve secured these great old ryes remains a mystery, but what’s not a secret is how quickly they’ll sell out. Don’t miss it.

Lux Row Distillers Re-Launches Daviess County Kentucky Straight Bourbon – American Whiskey News

Lux Row Distillers Re-Launches Daviess County Kentucky Straight Bourbon

BARDSTOWN, KY (February 19, 2020) – To pay homage to the rich distilling tradition of Daviess County, Kentucky, Lux Row Distillers is re-launching Daviess County Kentucky Straight Bourbon – an ultra-premium family of bourbons, with three variants.

This unique bourbon launches this week and consists of a mixed mash bill of both wheated and ryed bourbons for a balanced sweetness and spice. The three variants in this line are Daviess County Kentucky Straight Bourbon, Daviess County Kentucky Straight Bourbon – Cabernet Sauvignon Finish and Daviess County Kentucky Straight Bourbon – French Oak Finish.

“The combination of mash bills really sets this bourbon apart – the smooth wheated mash bill and the traditional spicy ryed mash bill come together for a balanced taste profile,” says John Rempe, Head Distiller at Lux Row Distillers.

All three variants are bottled at 96 proof in attractive 750ml bottles with an embossed shoulder and topped with a natural cork. The Cabernet Sauvignon Finish has been rested for six months in cabernet sauvignon barrels from the Napa region in California for an additional level of complexity, while the French Oak Finish has been rested in French oak barrels for six months for a hint of dry oak.

“The secondary aging in the cabernet sauvignon and French oak barrels adds a nice extra layer of flavor with a slight sweet fruitiness and oaky caramel undertones,” adds Rempe.

The brand, bought by the David Sherman Corporation in 1993, honors Daviess County, which boasts a long history of distilled spirits and iconic distilleries that helped Kentucky earn its reputation as the home of great bourbons. One of the first distilleries in that area, Daviess County Distilling Company, with heritage dating back to 1874, was one of the few distilleries to survive prohibition.  It helped pave the way for the nearly 20 other large distilleries that operated in Daviess County by the early 1900s. Today, only three remain, but the county’s significance in bourbon history lives on.

TASTING NOTES

NOSE: Apricot jam and ripe nectarines in a big old barn full of freshly harvested hay. There’s also baked apples with raisins and delicate spices, heaps of buttery caramel and toasted malt, and a hint of freshly pressed linen.

PALATE: Rich, creamy and viscous with a burst of Maltesers followed up by apricots and plums dusted with cocoa powder. Plenty of chewy caramel, dried fig and clove balanced out with a touch of refreshing sea salt.

FINISH: Refined tannins balance perfectly as it swells towards a decadent finish of dulce de leche and bread-and-butter pudding along with cocoa, pepper and toasted marshmallow. Wonderfully delicate and complex.

‘Chasing Whiskey’ Documentary Brings the Untold Story of Jack Daniel’s to Cinema Audiences Nationwide – May 11 Only- Whisky News

‘Chasing Whiskey’ Documentary Brings the Untold Story of Jack Daniel’s to Cinema Audiences Nationwide – May 11 Only

Journey Across the Globe With Director Greg Olliver, Country Music Legend Eric Church and Singer-Songwriter Shooter Jennings To Discover the Heart and History of Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey

DENVER – February 19, 2020 – The new documentary “Chasing Whiskey – The Untold Story of Jack Daniel’s” premieres in movie theaters across the country as a one-night event on May 11. More than a simple narrative of the origins and impact of Jack Daniel’s, the documentary joins Tim Matheson, Shooter Jennings, Eric Church, John Grisham, Tina Sinatra and more, on a 57,000 mile journey across five countries and 17 time zones that is equal parts thought provoking, insightful, moving and hilarious.

Tickets for “Chasing Whiskey” can be purchased starting Friday, February 21, at www.FathomEvents.com and participating theater box offices.

Fathom Events and Movie City Films, in association with Evolve Studios, present “Chasing Whiskey” in more than 850 U.S. movie theaters on Monday, May 11 at 7:00 p.m. local time, through Fathom’s Digital Broadcast Network (DBN). A complete list of theater locations will be available February 21 on the Fathom Events website (theaters and participants are subject to change).

“Our filmmaking journey proved that Jack Daniel’s is easily the most iconic whiskey brand in the world. No matter where we went – from Tennessee to Japan to Cuba to the outback of Australia – and even Scotland – we always found someone who had a compelling, personal story to tell about Jack. It’s become part of popular culture everywhere,” said director Greg Olliver. “With unprecedented access that was given to us by Jack Daniel’s, we uncovered surprising stories that began even before Jack started making his own whiskey. We’re proud to present this insightful, whiskey-soaked adventure that tells the story of Jack that’s been 150+ years in the making.”

From the small town of Lynchburg, Tennessee, where every drop of Jack Daniel’s is made, to the outback of Australia, from Beverly Hills to the streets of Havana, Cuba, “Chasing Whiskey” documents a cultural exploration into why a world of people identifies with a distinctly American brand. Through it all, Jack Daniel’s serves as the compass on a journey that offers a unique glimpse into humanity, shared values and differing views, dreams and delusions.

“We are always eager to partner with new content providers to offer premium experiences on the big screen,” Fathom Events CEO Ray Nutt said. “This event gives fans across the country, from large cities to small towns, a chance to explore the history of Jack Daniel’s with some of their favorite actors and artists to learn how millions of people around the world from different backgrounds and cultures became a part of this iconic brand.”
