This is the first release of the new Port Ellen series ‘Untold Stories’, which will feature some of the remaining remaining stocks of the distillery, closed in 1983. The series aimed to explore the ‘pioneering’ background behind the Port Ellen distillery . Port Ellen: Untold Stories The Safe Spirit, was aged in a mix of ex-Bourbon casks and ex-European Sherry.
Bottled at 50.9%, there are aromas of peat smoke, but more delicate and sweet than usual with Port Ellen. There are also dried fruits and citrus fruits followed by mint, smoke, white chocolate and tropical fruits on the palate. The finish is spicy, concentrated and balanced.
