TOMATIN RELEASE THE NEWEST EDITION OF THE WAREHOUSE 6 COLLECTION, THE 1975
12th March 2019: Tomatin, the award-winning Highland distillery has today announced the release of its third expression of the acclaimed Warehouse 6 Collection; 1975.
Distilled on 8th December 1975, this precious spirit has been gently maturing for the past 43 years in Warehouse 6, laid low on antique wooden rails above cool earthen floor and stacked single level, in a traditional dunnage warehouse. Nestled in a quiet corner of the distillery, Warehouse 6 houses the distillery’s most treasured casks. At Tomatin’s very core, Warehouse 6, is a truly special place.
The 1975 Warehouse 6 Collection, has spent over four decades slowly maturing in a hand-selected Spanish Oloroso Sherry Butt, cask number 35834. This limited and luxurious cask has wielded just 300 bottles at 46.5%.
Stephen Bremner, Managing Director of Tomatin, said: “I’m so pleased to announce the release of The 1975 Warehouse 6 Collection; these limited-edition expressions from the Warehouse 6 collection enjoy the perfect atmosphere during maturation, providing the flawless environment for exquisite whisky to come to life in all its glory.”
The 1975 Warehouse 6 Collection is encased in a hand-blown Glencairn Crystal decanter within an exquisite case fitted with a unique opening mechanism, featuring two rose gold metal buttons on the sides. Accompanied with glasses decorated with solid copper bands, a solid copper stopper and a numbered certificate detailing the story of the whisky. Stitched and debossed details on the leather wrap adds to the elegance. Protected in a secure material bag for transit and deliver, the 1975 Warehouse 6 Collection offers the ultimate in luxury.
Graham Eunson, Distillery Manager at Tomatin, said: “With patience comes reward, The 1975 Warehouse 6 Collection provides a perfect harmony of tropical and dried fruits, dark chocolate and warm spicy notes balanced with the complex background aromas created by decades of slow oxidation in its unique warehouse locale before a long and elegant finish.”
The 1975 Warehouse 6 Collection is expected to retail for £2,400 in the UK for a 70cl bottle, and is available to purchase from specialist retailers worldwide.
Notes
Tomatin Distillery has been producing and blending malt Scotch whisky since 1897. Over the last 50 years, the distillery has borne witness to vast change. At its peak in the 1970s, Tomatin was the largest distillery in the world operating 23 stills and producing 12 million litres of alcohol every year. Over the last decade, significant time has been invested in rediscovering the distillery, people and values, and in refining the business model to move away from the formerly lucrative bulk commodity market to now focus on Tomatin’s core range of single malts, The 1975 release is a part of Warehouse 6’s limited edition range, which includes the 1971 and the 1972.
Tomatin is located in the Scottish Highlands (near Inverness) and is famous for its portfolio of soft and mellow whiskies, including a core range, a limited-edition range and a premium archive range (prices range from £35 – £10,000). Tomatin is one of the fastest growing whisky brands in the UK and recently announced that it is officially the fastest growing top ten single malt whisky in the USA. Tomatin recently reported its turnover increased by almost 25% during the company’s most recent financial year (Dec 2016 – Dec 2017). Tomatin won Distiller of the Year 2016 and Brand Innovator of the Year 2017 at the Icons of Whisky Scotland Awards.
About the The 1975 Warehouse 6 Collection:

A culmination of nearly two decades of work: an especially precious limited edition.
Here’s how we made Tobias & the Angel…
For almost as long as Compass Box has existed, we have held a special reverence for single malt whiskies produced at the Clynelish and Caol Ila distilleries. Since our sadly-lost blend Eleuthera, we have known how wonderfully these two single malts complement each other. Therefore, when we were offered extremely old and special parcels of whiskies, one from each distillery, rather than allocate them to separate projects we were inspired to bring them together once more.
There is nothing else in Tobias & the Angel, just this magical pairing of single malt whiskies.
Every Compass Box release has a concept at its core, something that connects spirit, name and packaging design. While reading a biography of Leonardo da Vinci, John discovered the painting ‘Tobias and the Angel’, and the biblical story behind it. The naïve young man assisted by the divine angel expresses how we see the relationship between the aromatic smokiness of Caol Ila distillery and the ethereal character from Clynelish distillery.
2019 marks the 500th anniversary of Leonardo’s death; five centuries on, da Vinci’s blend of art and science is unparalleled. It is an inspiration for how we approach our whiskies.
The ‘Tobias and the Angel’ painting was produced at the studio of Andrea del Verrocchio, where the young Leonardo worked as an apprentice. To Leonardo are credited the small dog and the gleaming fish carried by Tobias. The beauty of the work, and its gravitas, made it a natural fit for this special limited release.
Fortunately for us, the painting resides at the National Gallery in London, not far from the Compass Box office and blending room. We requested and received permission from the Gallery to use the painting for our bottle’s artwork, paying a royalty for the privilege.
If you find yourself in London, we highly recommend a visit to see the painting in all its considerable glory.
Due to the age of the single malts which have gone into Tobias & the Angel, the likelihood that we’ll see two parcels of the same calibre come across our blending table again soon is sadly very low. We, therefore, believe that this is the rarest and most precious whisky we have ever produced.
Two decades of esteem, experimentation and experience have culminated in this limited edition of just 2,634 bottles worldwide.
Tobias & the Angel exhibits the aromas of distant bonfires, before leading into an ethereal herbal and fruit character. These two distinct and exquisite styles would not have been possible without the extended periods of maturation both whiskies have enjoyed.
The pedigree here is, in our opinion, of the highest calibre; the combination has exceeded even our expectations, creating something wholly original and of otherworldly quality.
Tobias & the Angel is best appreciated sipped at bottling strength. Like other works of great and lasting beauty, it is even better shared.

With an incredible selection of whiskies and other fine spirits there is certainly something for everyone – whether you are looking to collect, invest, enjoy!
Clynelish is a is a name that whisky enthusiasts love! It’s prominent waxy and floral features are some of the finest found in Scotch as well as whiskies form around the world.
This expression is part of the GoT Releases, NAS with a rather high ABV of 51.2% – Guessing anywhere from 8/10 years old with those classic Clynelish elements, not my favourite of the range but it’s affordable and a must have for any Clynelish fan! Cheers.

Minor Case Straight Rye Whiskey Refreshes Bottle Design
(Lebanon, Ky.) March 11, 2019 –Minor Case Straight Rye Whiskey has a new look. The new bottle features white paint over the embossments, making the intricate font and design more prominent and adding to the vintage and craft look of the bottle.
“The new look is reminiscent of the porcelain painted ‘bar back’ bottles that were popular with so many brands in the late 1800’s,” says Steve Beam, president and head distiller at Limestone Branch Distillery. “This was the time when my great-grandfather, Minor Case Beam, was in his distilling heyday – this new look is a nod to his legacy.”
Minor Case Straight Rye Whiskey, launched in 2017, features straight rye whiskey with a sherry cask finish and is bottled at 90 proof. Available in 750ml bottles and aged two years, Minor Case Straight Rye Whiskey offers a warm rye spice complemented by the dried fruit notes from being finished in a sherry cask barrel. The combination offers depth to the overall experience of this whiskey.
The award-winning Minor Case Straight Rye Whiskey has also been called out in this spring’s Tasting Panel magazine and given a score of 94 points. The magazine notes “the fragrant nose of jasmine and caramel is illuminating…luscious notes of sweet peat and honeyed apples, peppercorns and peach blossoms are elegant, while its perfume carries through to the maple and dried-peach finish.”
The whiskey was inspired by Beam’s long family history in the distilling industry – Steve Beam is a seventh-generation distiller. “This rye whiskey is a tribute to my heritage – from the details in the finishing to Minor Case Beam’s original crest as a special touch –now this beautiful bottle is even more visible behind the bar.”
The whiskey is offered nationwide for the suggested retail price of $42.99. The new bottle packaging is also available for sale at Limestone Branch Distillery.

With a history of distilling on both sides of their family – Beam and Dant – the brothers are seventh-generation distillers. Glen Grant 18 Year Old “Rare Edition” Single Malt Scotch Whisky (750ml) $129.99
92 points Wine Enthusiast
The aroma entices with vanilla, fresh fruit and waxy honey. Meanwhile, palate surprises with spice and light smoke, as mouthwatering waves of cayenne, jalapeño, mesquite and black pepper give way to soothing vanilla and honey. Dilution makes this dram more easy sipping and plays up the vanilla, but doesn’t change the peppery profile overall. (KN)
