Our Third Edition of the Single Cask Stone Circle Series is now available to Pre Order.
This stunning 10 Year Old Single Cask Malt Whisky from the Glenallachie Distillery in Speyside is bottled at 53%.
We have selected to represent the very local Balquhain Stone Circle, a Pictish artefact here in Inverurie.
Set amongst the Barley fields rolling off the slopes of Bennachie, a mile North of Inverurie Balquhain was a stronghold to the Leslie family who still reside in the area, the historic Tower still stands. The name of Balquhain lends itself to various legends and stories surrounding the Aberdeenshire countryside.
It is in this area that an ancient Pictish Recumbent Stone Circle lies. Sighted from the A96 Inveramsay road opposite the Harlaw Monument, the stone was made up of up to 12 stones, of which 4 remain.
Our choice of whisky perfectly encapsulates the area. The green grass and surrounding Barley fields accompany the ruggedness of Bennachie with its forested base. All rounded off with a sweetness and friendly, welcoming aura that the Shire is famous for.
Tasting Notes:
Nose: Sweet malt, Shortbread, Toffee Apples, and Fresh Summer Grass
Palate: Caramel, Fresh Apples, Oak, Cinnamon, Spice
Finish: Liquorice, Raisins, Coffee, Dark Chocolate
