CHRISTMAS GIFTS FOR WHISKY LOVERS FROM ANGELS’ SHARE GLASS

Festive whisky-filled baubles, glass Angels, whisky water droppers and miniature sets are among the range of Christmas gifts available from Angels’ Share Glass.

There’s something to suit everyone’s taste and the gifts will especially be welcomed by whisky enthusiasts.

  • Glass Baubles

New for this year are the firm’s latest innovation – whisky-filled coloured glass baubles.

These offer a change to the hand blown decorated glass baubles with a whisky quote inside which are popular with customers during the festive period.

This time, instead of a quote, 50ml of whisky has been sealed within the hand-made bauble which comes in a boxed set featuring four colours and four whiskies.

And unlike the firm’s signature line of whisky Angels, these are made for drinking as the cork which seals the Whisky inside is removable.

They will be make an exclusive addition to any Christmas tree and are ideal for a lovely gift or treat.

The baubles, which cost £48 a box, are hand-made and each is filled with a different malt from Douglas Laing’s Remarkable Regional Malts range.

The colours are Orange (filled with Big Peat); Green (Timorous Beastie); Red (Scallywag) and Mother of Pearl (Rock Oyster).

The original individual baubles are also available from £10 and customers can choose from a range of famous whisky quotes or decide on their own personalised message.

SET OF FOUR

  • Miniature Sets

One of the most popular products sold online is the Whisky Miniature, Mini Dropper and Glass Set.

Priced at just £25, this is a fantastic collection which gives someone a unique piece of Scottish glassware along with a taste of whisky.

The set is presented on an oak whisky barrel stave and features a single malt or scotch whisky miniature along with a special mini version of the firm’s award-winning water dropper plus a classic mini Glencairn Glass.

There are six whisky miniatures to choose from, ranging from a 12-year-old Deanston to a Robert Burns Single Malt, and the set comes presented in a beautiful gift box.

  • Whisky Angels

The signature line of whisky angels are a perfect Christmas gift for whisky fans and anyone who loves beautiful hand-made creations.

Each angel is carefully crafted by hand in Scotland and a dram of whisky is expertly captured inside the glass via a secret method.

There are a wide range of angels, which stand around 70mm high, to choose from including Birthstone/Anniversary Angels and the new collection of Clan Angels.

The Copper Heart Angel is always a popular choice for a Christmas gift while the poignant Poppy Scotland Angels include a 50% donation to the charity.

Prices start at £30 and the Angels, which come in an attractive box, can be engraved with a small inscription if required.

Reviews for Whisky Angels bought as Christmas presents include:

“Purchased a beautiful personalised angel as a Christmas gift. It was ready in no time and is absolutely stunning!”

“We gave our son this special angel for Christmas. Not only did he spend time in Scotland but he really enjoys good whisky. He really enjoyed hearing the story of the Angel’s Share and shared the story with his neighbours who also enjoy fine whisky.”

SEPTEMBER AUCTION LIVE

RUNS FROM 8TH – 17TH SEPTEMBER

Just Whisky is now live with their September auction. Are you looking for something in particular to try? Filling a gap in your collection? Or maybe something extraordinary to sip and enjoy for a special occasion. They have it all this month – starting with some of the highlighted Lots below.

JW1

Ardbeg 1965 – Museum Case and Miniature

Wow! This Ardbeg is truly stunning. Just 261 hand blown decanters have been produced and contain an incredible 40-year-old Ardbeg 1965 vintage malt. This set is beautifully put together and extremely high-quality, and comes with a glass museum case, black plinth & lid & 2 locking pins. For those of you who wish to sample the precious liquid without opening the full-sized bottle, Ardbeg has been thoughtful enough to include a 5cl version of the whisky. Bottled in 2005.

 JW2

Bowmore 44 Years Old 1964 – Gold Bowmore

Gold Bowmore is one of the oldest to be released from the famous Bowmore No.1 vaults and completes the trilogy (Black, White & Gold). This 44-year old whisky has been matured in a combination of Bourbon & Sherry Casks and is one of only 701 numbered bottles.

An incredibly collectable bottle from Bowmore, released in 2009, who say:

“This is the final of three limited edition releases from the spirit distilled at Bowmore Distillery on 5th November 1964. The clear spirit was filled into three bourbon casks and one Oloroso sherry cask. For forty-four years the precious liquid has quietly matured in the dark Bowmore vaults.

This, unfortunately, is the very last whisky from this distillation in existence. The four casks have been carefully married together to produce this truly exceptional and extremely rare example of Bowmore.”

JW3

Johnnie Walker Blue Label Casks Edition – Schiphol Limited Edition (1 Litre) + Place Mat

This is a very special version of Johnnie Walker’s famous Blue Label Whisky, which was released exlusively to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport to celebrate the launch of Europe’s first (and only) Johnnie Walker House. The two-storey ‘part gallery, part museum’ is a new permanent installation at the Dutch airport, offering a tasting bar, ‘theatrical’ educational sessions and a shop to purchase the full Johnnie Walker range.

This whisky is captured at an usual full cask strength (55.8%). The bottle, which is named the Johnnie Walker House Blue Label Casks Edition – Schiphol Limited Edition, includes an illustration by local artist Merjin Hos, which shows the iconic Striding Man travelling from Scotland to Schipol and features various imagery that is synonymous with Amsterdam and is housed inside a beautiful Wade decanter.

This is a 1 litre version and comes with a complimentary matching place mat.

Scotch Malt Whisky Society “Remembering the good old days” – Scotch Whisky News

SMWS Logo NEW1

SMWS17

We’re feeling nostalgic with the release of new bottling 73.83 – not only does this whisky evoke wonderful memories of childhood, it takes us back to 2002 when the Society established its branch in Australia, and this cask has been bottled specially to celebrate its 15th anniversary. Reminisce about the good old days with this selection of casks picked by the Tasting Panel.

The nose regaled us with honey nut breakfast cereal, toffee, Crunchie bars, marzipan and sweetie tobacco (shredded coconut), with added floral hints. Then it suffused our gobs with a warm golden glow – pickled ginger, black bun and fudge; ‘honey on a razor strop’ and ‘chewing twigs on a heathery hillside’. The reduced nose had us weeping over childhood memories of McCowan’s Highland Toffee, Daim bars (‘Dime’ in those days), syrup of figs and oiled cricket bats. The reduced palate was rather deep, dark and mysterious, but rich and sweet (apricot Danish, yum-yums, treacle toffee, dried fruits). Thumbs up all round.

DRINKING TIP: Nostalgia ain’t what it used to be – so forget that. Either with food or on a hillside – or both.

Introducing Glen Scotia 18 Year Old Single Malt from Victorian whisky capital of the world -Scotch Whisky News

SML Glen Scotia 18YO

Introducing Glen Scotia 18 Year Old Single Malt from Victorian whisky capital of the world

Campbeltown whisky distillery, Glen Scotia has unveiled the latest expression in its award-winning collection – Glen Scotia 18 Year Old Single Malt.

In the Victorian age, Campbeltown was known as the ‘whisky capital of the world’ and was once home to more than 30 distilleries operating along the Kintyre peninsula during the 19th century.

With Campbeltown now recognised as one of the five distinct malt producing regions, Glen Scotia is one of just three left, has a history dating back to 1832 and a heritage steeped in Victorian values, allowing it to produce time-honoured, authentic single malt whiskies in the same Campbeltown style.

An exceptional single malt whisky matured in the finest oak casks for a minimum of 17 years which are then specially selected as they epitomise the distillery’s character, before being married together and finished in Oloroso sherry casks for 12 months before bottling. Glen Scotia 18 Year Old embodies the signature aromas of Campbeltown, with hints of vanilla oak interwoven with subtle notes of sea spray and spicy aromatic fruits.

Master Blender for Glen Scotia, Michael Henry, said; “Glen Scotia distillery is one of only three surviving Campbeltown Scotch whisky distilleries and much of the original design has remained the same over that time, with the stillroom, dunnage warehouse and fermenters all dating back to the 19th century.”

“Glen Scotia 18 Year Old is bottled at 46% ABV, natural colour and is non-chill filtered ensuring the whisky’s rich smooth taste and distinctive flavours are preserved. On nose you will detect the scent of sweet toffee, perfumed floral notes and an air of crisp saltiness. On the palate, it imparts notes of rich deep vanilla fruit flavours, with mild hints of apricot, pineapple and plump sultana. The finish is long and dry, with gentle warming spice. A true taste of Glen Scotia and Campbeltown.”

Glen Scotia 18 Year Old is priced at £85 for 70cl. In the UK it is available to buy at all good independent whisky specialists, online and on the Glen Scotia website. It will also be available in global markets, including Taiwan, Germany, Belgium and Poland.

Owned by Loch Lomond Group, Glen Scotia was recently named the Best Campbeltown Distillery of the Year at the Berlin International Spirits Competition 2017.
