Bottled in 2013 from cask 1770, with only 166 bottles produced, this Glenfarclas comes from the dawn of the Swinging Sixties. Heavy in rich cocoa beans, this expression is reminiscent of an old fashioned Gentleman’s Club with Chesterfield chairs, polished banisters and old wood panels, notes of liquorice, toffee apple and treacle intermingling.
Glenglassaugh 1975 Batch 1 (7801) 38 Year Old
Distilled on 18th June 1975 and matured for 38 years in a single Moscatel hogshead, this expression from Glenglassaugh was hand-picked by Master Distiller Billy Walker, producing just 247 bottles. Part of the Batch 1 release of single casks, this non chill-filtered expression has fruity notes with caramel, candy and spicy black pepper mixed with oak and subtle mint.
Glenglassaugh 1978 Batch 1 (1810) 35 Year Old
Another release in Glenglassaugh’s Batch 1 series of single cask expressions, this bottling from cask 1810 was distilled in October 1978 and matured in a single Port hogshead for 35 years before being bottled at a strength of 42.9% abv. One of only 279 bottles, this single malt is non chill-filtered and of natural colour, capturing red fruit notes spiced with gentle peppercorns.
Macallan 1993 Charles Dickens Authors’ Series
Part of the Authors’ Series from Hunter Laing, this single malt from the Macallan Distillery is inspired by the life and works of Charles Dickens. Distilled in 1993 and bottled in 2015 from a single refill barrel at a natural cask strength of 54.8% abv, only 99 bottles have been produced.
“A mellow nose, with fruit compote and orange zest resting on a base of sandalwood; becomes slightly peppery with a drop of water. Viscous, sweet, tannic and warming to taste at natural strength, and similar (plus fine white pepper) with water.” – Charles MacLean
Hailing from the most northerly distillery in the Highlands, this limited edition expression from Old Pulteney has been matured in American ex-bourbon and Spanish ex-sherry casks hand-selected by Distillery Manager, Malcolm Waring. The eye catching detail and design of the limited edition reflects their rich maritime heritage, which includes a stunning wooden box with porthole revealing the unique Old Pulteney bottle which carries the classic herring drifter, which has become a symbol of the brand.
Lochside 52 Year Old Sovereign
Distilled at Lochside Distillery in Montrose, this 52 year old expression from The Sovereign has been aged in a refill hogshead and bottled at cask strength, non chill-filtered and with natural colour. The nose is complex with notes of dark fruits, candle wax and furniture polish. The palate opens to rich forest fruits, green moss and woodfire smokiness. The finish is long and warm with oak notes lingering.
Mortlach 22 Year Old Platinum Old & Rare
Distilled in September 1992 at the Mortlach Distillery of Dufftown, Moray, and matured in a sherry butt for 22 years before being bottled at a cask strength of 56.8% abv. One of only 120 bottles produced, this rare expression from the Speyside distillery is a rich and smooth whisky with notes of dried fruit and treacle. Simply incredible!
