The Royal Brackla surprised a lot of us – is it really ‘only’ 16 years old and 40% abv? Then there was the return of the wonderful Flaming Heart (better than the ‘This Is Not A Luxury Whisky’ in our humble opinion). Glendronach Peated and the limited release cask strength Arran ‘The Bothy’ are both deliciously rewarding malts that really show how good reasonably priced NAS whiskies can actually be.
