Old Pulteney Clipper Commemorative – Scotch Whisky News

AA OP Clipper

Old Pulteney Clipper Commemorative

After an epic, almost eleven month long voyage around the globe as part of the Clipper 2013-14 Round the World Yacht Race, we payed tribute to the remarkable sailing achievement of the crew with the limited edition release of the Old Pulteney Clipper Commemorative bottle.

The whisky has been matured in ex American bourbon and ex Spanish sherry casks and is polished gold in appearance, combining the sweetness of dried fruits with crisp green apples on the nose, accompanied by notes of fresh vanilla and white chocolate. The taste is of honey and orange zest with a rounded oaky structure and Old Pulteney’s unmistakable salty coastal note giving way to a smooth and long-lasting finish.

Launched in July last year only 2,700 cases of 6 were released world-wide, so before stock runs out we invite you to discover this unique and limited expression of our fine maritime malt.

English Whisky Company “Coming Soon: Chapter 13 – Spring Edition” – English Whisky News

AA EWC 13

Coming Soon: Chapter 13 – Spring Edition

We are putting the finishing touches to our latest edition of Chapter 13. Continuing the tradition of each Chapter 13 release having bespoke label, this latest version carries one of England’s most iconic images. Hopefully you will agree – a fitting tribute in time for St George’s day, to help celebrate all things English.

We will announce the release of Chapter 13 at the end of March – so keep your eyes peeled as this will be a very limited edition.

Chapter 13 Batch 4 Tasting Notes

Nose Orchard fruits, think stewed apples and pears. Cereal, hints of crushed digestive biscuits and porridge. Notes of toffee, honey and beeswax. A waft of rich fruit cake.

Taste Creamy mouth feel; the cereal comes through along with the toffee and honey. Again, orchard fruits. Sweet, spicy and oaky. A very long malty, dry finish.

Ardbeg “This year, our Ardbeg Day bottling spans the centuries” – Scotch Whisky News

AA Ardbeg 2

What does the future hold? A bottle of Ardbeg Perpetuum if you’re lucky.

Dear Committee Member Its incredible balance… its complexity… its peaty perfection… The reasons we love Ardbeg are endless. So it’s fitting that the name of our limited edition 200th anniversary bottling should reflect our ultimate quest – to keep making incredible whisky forever and ever.

We’ve named it Ardbeg Perpetuum and it’s Ardbeg’s past, present and future – bottled. Dr Bill Lumsden, our Whisky Creator, has taken inspiration from the differing styles of whisky his predecessors have created over the last 200 years.

Ardbeg Perpetuum will be on sale this Ardbeg Day, 30th May 2015. But paradoxically, it won’t be available forever. So if you wish to own one in perpetuity you will have to be quick.

Keep an eye on your inbox in the very near future to find out how to get your hands on a bottle and where your nearest Ardbeg Day event will be held.

Slainte!

Balvenie Tun and Award Winning Japanese Whisky from The Whisky Shop – Whisky News

 new-w-shop-header-logo-new

The Balvenie Tun 1509

The first batch of the Balvenie Tun 1509, this whisky is made up of a combination of whiskies from 35 American oak barrels and seven European oak sherry butts, each hand selected by Malt Master David Stewart. The whiskies were then transferred to Tun 1509 in Warehouse 24 before bottling. This result is an incredibly smooth, rich, deep whisky with floral notes, vanilla and orange peel which is greater than some of its constituent parts.

Taketsuru 17 year old

The Taketsuru whiskies are a combination of single malt whiskies from Nikka’s two distilleries, Yoichi and Miyagikyo. In the 17 year old, a high percentage of the whiskies have been aged in ex-sherry casks, resulting in a deep, rich, complex whisky with more than a hint of smoke and oak. The Taketsuru Pure Malt 17 year old was named ‘World’s Best Blended Malt’ for the second year running at last week’s World Whiskies Awards.
