FWL Whiskey Selection: Tomintoul 16YO Speyside Whisky & The Drammie Awards – Scotch Whisky News

Three days(!) left to enter your nominations for the 2013 Drammie Awards: The Voice of the Whiskey Consumer. Don’t miss your chance to be heard: Tell the whiskey industry what you think and enter your nominations now.

If you’re a regular reader of this email, you know that we always try to feature a rare and hard to find whisky, or a whisky at a great price. This weeks feature is a wonderful whisky at a spectacular price: Tomintoul 16YO Speyside Single Malt Whisky.

In the middle of the last century it took more than a year to find the purest of water sources for use in the malt whisky making process. Finally, the search located the Ballantruan Spring, an exceptional source of the purest of waters nestling in the Cromdale Hills.

The quest over, Tomintoul Distillery was built close to the Ballantruan Spring and adjacent to the majestic River Avon, located near to the village of Tomintoul, the highest village in the Highlands of Scotland on the prestigious Glenlivet Estate at the heart of the Speyside region. Tomintoul Distillery has been owned by Angus Dundee Distillers since 2000.

The natural environment, high altitude, pure air and the exclusive use of the outstanding quality of water from the Ballantruan Spring, combine to enhance the superb quality of Tomintoul Speyside Glenlivet Single Malt.

Tomintoul single malt whisky is a testament to the whisky’s master distiller, Robert Fleming, whose family has been making whisky in the Speyside Glenlivet region for four generations.

Fortunately for us, our man Nicky The Neck grew up “summering in Speyside”, where he spent a considerable amount of time rafting down the Avon River.

And so we are able to offer you Tomintoul 16YO at the unheard of price of $49.95/ bottle. But act fast, we have a limited inventory at this price, and once it’s gone…

Until next week…I wish you high spirits!

Dubai Celebrates the Sport of Kings at The Royal Salute Nations Cup

Royal Salute, the world’s leading luxury Scotch whisky, will host His Highness GajSingh II, The Maharaja of Jodhpur and His Grace Torquhil Ian Campbell, the 13th Duke of Argyll, at The United Arab Emirates Royal Salute Nations Polo Cup. The tournament takes place from 23-25 January 2013 at the luxurious Desert Palm Resort in Dubai.

Some of India’s most influential figures will accompany The Maharaja of Jodhpur, who will join Royal Salute in Dubai after his recent Diamond Jubilee celebrations during The Royal Salute Maharaja of Jodhpur Diamond Jubilee Cup tournament, which took place in Jodhpur, India at the end of last year.

In their third year as title sponsor of the Nations Cup, Royal Salute will host eleven teams competing in two divisions: 0-6 goals and 12-16 goals. The two day tournament will see Royal Salute continue to add an essence of true luxury to international polo by hosting glamorous events attended by royalty on and off the field.  Eric Benoist, Marketing Director of Chivas Brothers, owner of Royal Salute, commented: “The 2013 UAE Royal Salute Nations Cup will no doubt deliver some exciting polo over the two days, well supported by a number of luxury events off the field. We are thrilled to welcome our distinguished guests to share in our celebrations of the sport of kings during this prestigious polo event.  As ever, we are delighted to be title sponsor of this pinnacle tournament in the United Arab Emirates.”

Launched in 2009 by Adolfo Cambiaso, who also captained the winning UAE team in 2012, the Royal Salute Nations Cup is an annual event held to celebrate polo in Dubai, and to reinforce the Desert Palm as Middle East’s leading polo estate. The Royal Salute Nations Cup teams include patrons and players from the UAE, Great Britain, Iraq and Switzerland.

The tournament is the second fixture in the Royal Salute World Polo Series for 2013, following a successful event held recently in Portsea, Australia. The Royal Salute World Polo Series showcases the brand’s commitment to the most prestigious international polo events across the Americas, Asia Pacific, Europe and the Middle East.

Guests present at the tournament will be given the opportunity to taste the Maharaja of Jodhpur’s Diamond Jubilee blend, one of the rarest and most bespoke blends ever created by Royal Salute.

Bondeau Opens Doors To World Distillers in UK Market – Scotch Whisky News

Bondeau opens doors to World Distillers in UK market

Bondeau are pleased to announce our joint initiative with Dominic Roskrow.

Our aim is to help world distillers, specifically craft distillers, become more accessible to UK consumers through the Bondeau platform.  Our part in this will be to provide the e-commerce platform, the logistics, bonded warehousing in the UK and to handle UK tax and duty, whilst Dominic will be working with the distilleries on their ranges and various other PR activities.  The initiative will also offer other marketing and events services.

This initiative will provide world distillers with an alternative route to market, as ‘Bondeau is not a retailer’.  We provide a framework which allows brand owners to reach consumers in the UK market, and at a fair price, without the costs on their part.  It also allows UK consumers access to fabulous whiskies and spirits from various locations in the world.

For further information visit our website: http://www.bondeau.com/ and fill out the contact form.

Chivas Toasts Chivalry This ‘Valentine’s Day’ – Scotch Whisky News

Chivas toasts Chivalry this ‘Valentine’s Day’

Chivas Deluxe Scotch Whisky is rejuvenating Valentine’s Day this year, calling all men to embrace Chivalry as a celebration of gentlemanly behaviour.

Brothers John and James Chivas founded Chivas Brothers grocery store in 1801, satisfying the fine tastes of the
aristocracy of the Highlands with luxurious products and unparalleled service. Among their noble following, Queen
Victoria, took heed of their chivalrous approach, and awarded the Chivas brothers the Royal Warrant.

In the same chivalrous spirit, Chivas plans to reignite classically gallant, honourable acts this year, with a few simple steps this Valentine’s Day.

A Guide to Chivalry on Valentine’s Day

1. The Tell-tale act of chivalry, the ‘Classic’: Holding open the door for your female acquaintance
2. Don’t let technology rule: Turn off your phone or any other device that could interrupt your date
3. Stand up for what you believe in: Always offer your seat up to a woman or anyone who might have a greater need
for it
4. Wrapped up warm: Offer your coat or jacket to the ladies
5. Raindrops shouldn’t fall on your head: carry the umbrella, not always easy, but always chivalrous
6. Ladies first: Always serve any female guests first, whether it be food or drink
7. Be interested: Listen, ask questions, show an interest in what she has to say!
8. The cliché: Flowers. Always flowers!

Chivas Regal is a truly global brand, selling 4.6 million 9L cases annually in more than 150 countries across Europe, Asia Pacific and Americas. In the UK, Chivas is one of Pernod Ricard’s key brands. It was at the beginning of the 19th Century that blending pioneers James and John Chivas, two brothers from Aberdeen in Scotland, first combined different matured whiskies to create a unique ‘house’ character, setting a standard that would be handed down through the generations. In 1909, Chivas Brothers made distilling history by creating the world’s first luxury Scotch whisky – a 25 year old blend called Chivas Regal. This sophisticated whisky took America by storm and went on to become an international legend. Today, the Chivas Regal range is the epitome of style, substance and exclusivity and includes Chivas Regal 12, 18 and 25 Year Old.
