BULLY BOY DISTILLERS INTRODUCES AGED

AMERICAN STRAIGHT WHISKEY

Boston’s First Craft Distillery Expands Award-Winning Spirits Lineup With First Aged Offering

December 2012; Boston – Bully Boy Distillers, Boston’s first craft distillery, announces the launch of its first aged spirit offering, American Straight Whiskey. Joining an award-winning collection of small batch un-aged spirits including vodka, white whiskey, and white rum, Bully Boy’s American Straight Whiskey is hand-produced with the finest ingredients and traditional distilling methods.

Bully Boy’s aged whiskey uses corn, rye, and malted barley as the primary ingredients, and it is aged in new American Oak. The corn makes for subtle sweetness, and the high rye content creates a dry spiciness; the flavors are further refined through the barrel-aging process, which imparts both a prominent caramel note and a nutty finish.

“We’re very excited about unveiling our American Straight Whiskey, our first aged spirit, something we’ve been working on and looking forward to since launching the distillery just over two years ago,” said Will Willis, co-founder of Bully Boy Distillers. “Whereas our un-aged spirits are especially great for mixing into craft cocktails, this aged whiskey was produced as a sipping whiskey with a rich, complex flavor profile that stands on its own.”

Since the distillery’s official opening in 2011, Bully Boy’s White Whiskey, Vodka, and White Rum have been enthusiastically received by consumers and received numerous accolades from leading industry experts. Along with winning numerous awards at prestigious spirits competitions, the rum, vodka, and whiskey were rated “exceptional” by the Beverage Tasting Institute.

Along with their un-aged spirits, Bully Boy American Straight Whiskey is available for purchase at a number of premier bars, restaurants and retailers throughout Greater Boston. Robert Burns Malt Re-Launch

Arran Distillers Re-Launch Tribute Spirit – Robert Burns Single Malt

Award-winning Scotch whisky producer, Isle of Arran Distillers, have just re-launched their Robert Burns Single Malt, a multi-vintage edition of The Arran Malt named after Scotland’s most famous son. A fitting tribute to Scotland’s national poet, who famously had a taste for whisky, the new malt will hit stores at the end of September and is set to be a success with both whisky and literature fans alike.

This special Single Malt is the official Scotch whisky commemorating Robert Burns’ legacy and is consequently a highly anticipated launch from Arran Distillery this year.  Made of the finest ex-Bourbon and ex-Sherry casks, with no artificial colouring added, the spirit has a rich and smooth flavour. Commenting on the flavour of the blend, Arran’s Master Distiller, James MacTaggart, said: “This malt has been skilfully created by combining different ages to produce a beautifully rounded whisky. The sweet, fruity notes and the depth of flavour mean that this malt can be happily enjoyed neat, on the rocks or as part of a classic whisky cocktail.”

Euan Mitchell, Managing Director of Isle of Arran Distilleries, said: “As a Patron of the Robert Burns World Federation we wanted to create something special and with the end result we have achieved liquid poetry. “Both Burns and whisky are global Scottish icons and we aim to promote this new bottling around the world”.

The Robert Burns Single Malt is the perfect romantic gift for a whisky lover or poetry fan.

Isle of Arran 1996/2012 (52%, OB, Premium Cask Selection, Bourbon, C# 2086, 186 Bts) – Scotch Whisky Tasting Note

Isle of Arran 1996/2012 (52%, OB, Premium Cask Selection, Bourbon, C# 2086, 186 Bts)

Another cask for the US market and quite a small one at only 186 bottles from Isle of Arran “Premium Cask Selection” range. On the nose there’s all the Isle of Arran characteristic maltiness followed by some duty malt, a little salt (no not actual salt, just some salty aromas), some very nice fruit plus some very good  leather and tobacco. There are also some enchanting fruity notes in the back ground. All very luscious. The taste is very active with loads of the tobacco and leather and spice and malt and some really excellent crème brûlée along with the dusty malt. A little water tames it somewhat and makes it a little more approachable but it holds together exceedingly well. The finish is once again of the leather and tobacco, maltiness, oak spice and the crème brûlée but now quite dry and exceedingly long and active.

Very well balanced with lots of notes from the cask which compliments the malt, it handles water quite well and perhaps improves it a little. Go find a bottle if you can…you won’t regret it.
