Caperdonich 17 Year Old / The Rare Casks

The 1st release in ‘The Rare Casks’ series by Abbey Whisky is this magnificent Caperdonich 17 year old single malt Scotch whisky. This limited edition release was distilled in 1995 and left to rest for 17 years before being bottled in 2012 with only 96 bottles filled.

Bottled in its natural form, at full cask strength, without chill filtering or colour additives.

Nose: Initial hit of sweet oak and vanilla. Leave it for a few moments and the tropical fruit & sweet peppery notes lift. Banana, vanilla & spiced pepper followed by a lingering of sweet pepper chilli & oak at the back of the nose.

Palate: A full coating of creamy, spicy pepper notes all around the mouth, softens off gradually showing its sweet oak, vanilla flavours once again.

Finish: The finish leaves your mouth with warm, spicy notes with sweeter flavours to follow. A dram that leaves you wanting for more.

Distilled by David Fitt on 12th November 2007, single cask 0787 from the Founders Private Cellar was laid to rest in a 1st fill Sauternes cask for just shy of 5 years. A Peated malt which was bottled 17th September 2012 at 61.2% vol, 250 bottles filled

Tasting Notes:

Dried fruits, apricots, apples, slight almond nuttiness, and hints of cinnamon, slightly buttery and light syrup with a palate note: rich fruits, malt loaf, Christmas pudding, a hint of dried banana chips.

Elijah Craig 20 Year Old / Single Barrel Bourbon

The latest addition from Heaven Hill Whiskey Distillery is this stunning 20 year old Elijah Craig, single barrel bourbon. Introduced to replace the younger 18 year old bottling, the whiskey in this release has been drawn from the same lot as Whisky Advocate’s ‘American Whiskey Of The Year’.

Aged for 20 years in a single charred oak barrel, only 69 bottles of this bourbon whiskey have been made available for the UK market.

Nikka Single Cask Coffey Grain 1998 / Cask 143228

Made from 100% malted barley, just like single malt, the difference lies in the distillation method. Nikka innovates by distilling this malt in their Coffey Still (named after its inventor Aeneas Coffey), which is usually reserved for grain whiskies.

Distilled in 1998, aged in cask 143228 for 14 years before being bottled in 2012 at 60% vol.
