December heralds the return of Abbey Whisky’s Winter Whisky Festival for 12 days on the run up to Christmas. On each of these days we will feature a dailyoffer on a range of special malts. In keeping with the season, these prices will remain frozen for the duration of the festival.

The Rare Malts Selection

The Rare Malts Selection; a collection of remarkable cask-strength single malt Scotch whiskies drawn from among the rarest, most precious whisky stocks to survive in Scotland.

Often twenty or more years of age, these cask strength whiskies come from distilleries that are either still in operation, mothballed or have sadly become part of Scotland’s Lost Distilleries. These malts are so rare that many will never be seen again.

Made without chill filtering or colour additives, The Rare Malts Selection are natural cask strength whiskies taken from the highest quality casks. During selection of The Rare Malts only if at least three casks from a single year show identical consistency and of perfect quality where they then bottled.

The Rare Malts Selection has received over 24 awards at the International Wine & Spirit Competition.

Brora 1977 / 24 Year Old
Highland Single Malt Whisky

With Brora distillery closing in 1983, this bottle is one of the true gems released within The Rare Malts Series.

Consistently scored in the high 90’s from whisky critics around the globe.

Glenlochy and its two stills where among a dozen distilleries closed by SMD in the early 1980’s, making this Highland single malt whisky from 1969 very special indeed. Rarely seen in specialist whisky shops.
