Berry’s Own Stars in Yorkshire Dales
Passport and compass in hand, recently our own Ed Bates ventured north again to the captivatingly beautiful Yorkshire Dales. The Wright Wine Company, based in the historic market town of Skipton (www.wineandwhisky.co.uk), has a range of more than 1000 Whiskies.
Regular Whisky tastings have been held for a number of years but until now an independent bottler hasn’t been asked to show their wares. Ed’s predictable nervousness proved unfounded as a larger than usual audience, who had travelled from as far away as Lancashire, thoroughly enjoyed what he had to say and more importantly, the Whiskies.

London Whisky Show
The London Whisky Show 2009, a new event on the calendar, set a new level of excellence in terms of how to present a major tasting event. With hundreds of Whiskies from Scotland, Japan, Ireland, Wales, USA and Europe, the 1000-plus visitors were truly spoilt for choice being able to sample many aged, rare and premium Whiskies not usually presented at
Whisky tasting events. The magnificent Guildhall in the heart of London’s
historic square mile set the standard for the show with its beautiful and ancient architecture, stained glass windows, high ceilings and ambient light.
Whisky producers and distributors filled the Great Hall with an enviable selection of Whiskies, many 30 years old, some over 50 years old and all available for sampling. BB&R had a comprehensive range on show, as ever,
with once again the 1971 Invergordon Single Grain proving very popular with all who tried it.
