November Bottling List from Douglas Laing – Scotch Whisky News

November 2009
Dear Customer
We believe we have an interesting new selection for November being eight (8) from the OLD MALT CASK, three (3) bottlings of OLD & RARE plus the last ANNIVERSARY BOTTLING of our six (6) which celebrates our 6 decades. It is a particularly attractive 20 year old Macallan which has been finishing quietly in a Sherry cask for the past 10-11 years.

The tasting notes for the three (3) OLD & RARE are:
OAR0085 PORT ELLEN 30 YEAR OLD
This big beachy beauty has not gone “soft” on the nose and is still freshly oceanic in style, lightly peated, turning confectionery sweet, as it warms. On the palate, the soft chewed leather is there plus warm summer tar, iodine and Islay maritime phenolic quality – all running to a finish initially pastel
sweet, almost floral, peppery, subtly peated and long. (F)
OAR0086 GLENCADAM 32 YEAR OLD
On the nose detect truly attractive round, toasted, sweet, fruity, vanilla’d and gristy tones. Initially on the palate it is massively spiced and distinctly citric, with marmalade-on-toast flavours. All of this leads to an attractively “perfumed” finish which is zesty, still spiced and deep down warming. (F)
OAR0078 BANFF 38 YEAR OLD
This Banff has a wealth of olfactory treats with a character of polished wooden cigar boxes, vanilla’ed tobacco and bananas. The palate opens with sweet spices, toffee and develops a peaty, smokey oak style. The finish is deep and long, still sweet becoming smoked and spicy. (J)
Three (3) Advance Samples have been added, being:
SMC0346 BOWMORE 8 YEAR OLD
SMC0347 ROYAL LOCHNAGAR 12 YEAR OLD
SMC0345 CAOL ILA 15 YEAR OLD
As for DOUBLE BARREL we will release the first vatting of a Caol Ila/Braeval (sherry cask).
All best wishes,
Yours faithfully
