Founded in 1962 when the existing distilleries were striving to satisfy the ever-upward demand for blended whisky. Originally fitted with state of the art equipment making it the first distillery in the country to have a stainless steel mash tun, the first to run stills fitted with internal steam coils and the first to use shell and tube heat exchangers rather than worm tubs.

Tasting Notes

Lemon tart and pear skin are first to emerge on the nose followed by honey and menthol. The palate is bold and expansive, mouth-watering with apple freshness and vanilla coming through to sooth the more robust elements.

Speyside:-

Dailuaine 1974 Vintage, 32 Year Old
Description

Cask #B111/2. Dailuaine means “green vale” in Gaelic and is situated between Ben Rinnes and the River Spey. The whisky is quite rare as a single malt as most of the production contributes to blending.

Distillery: Dailuaine

The Distillery was founded in 1852 by William Mackenzie. When he died in 1865 his widow leased the distillery to James Fleming, a banker. Together with William Mackenzie’s son he founded Mackenzie and Company. Today very little of this whisky is released as single malt – most of the spirit is used for blending, in particular the popular Dewars blends.

Tasting Notes

The nose is soft and deeply perfumed with soft fruit. Barley-sugar sweetness combines with a firm smokiness to produce a full flavoured malt whisky with a lingering finish of considerable class.

Age: 32 Years Old
Vintage: 1974
Volume: 70cl
ABV: 46.0%
Bottler: Berry Bros.
