Glenglassaugh Distillery Small Cask Purchase Opportunity

glenglassaugh

Small Cask Purchase Opportunity

We have recently started filling Octave casks with our new spirit and are selling these for private consumption to either private individuals or groups of friends. The Octaves contain around 50 litres of Spirit and are anticipated to mature quickly with bottling anticipated after around 5 to 7 years. The price per cask is affordable for an individual or as a purchase by a whisky club with the opportunity to personalise the cask by having your own inscription on one end of it and also be personalising the bottles at a future date.

This is the perfect opportunity to buy a cask of whisky which comes from the same distillery that has just won two trophies at the International Wine and Spirit Competition. Our 40 year old won the Trophy for the Best 40 year old Scotch Whisky and our 30 year old won the Trophy for the Best Cask Strength Scotch Whisky.

To find out more about this opportunity then the best starting point is to read my original blog on the subject and the comments at the end of the blog, http://blog.glenglassaugh.com/?p=76 it is also worth reading the two question and answer blogs http://blog.glenglassaugh.com/?p=80 and http://blog.glenglassaugh.com/?p=82

I have attached a copy of the cask purchase application form and the final terms and conditions and you should also read these prior to deciding to purchase. If you do decide to purchase then please complete the order form and sign it and then either scan it and email to me or post it to me and I will then be able to counter sign it, accepting the order. We will then require the money to be transferred into our account prior to filling your cask. After filling you will receive a cask ownership certificate and digital photograph of your cask.

If you have any questions then just email me direct and I will do my best to answer them.

Kind Regards

Bowmore 15yo Darkest (43%, OB, New presentation, 2007)

The new ‘sharp shoulder’ bottle style from the famed Isle distillery Bowmore, 15 year old and finished in sherry casks. The nose is typical of Bowmore; peat smoke intermingled with rich fruits (raisins, dried plums & apricots) and hints of chocolate followed by a slight maritime aroma. The peat smoke is not over whelming. Some slight hints of burnt caramel. The taste is quite mild but warming and while there is sweet smoke it is also very earthy (think damp earth after a heavy rain). Copper, like tasting a penny when you were a child, coffee and chocolate. The finish is quite long and presents coffee & chocolate, some heather (a hint of perfume), oranges, malt and the earthy smokiness followed by very dry malt.

Bruichladdich 10yo 1998/2008 (46%, OB, ‘Manzanilla’)

One of two in the series, the other being matured in Oloroso sherry wood. This bottling is limited to 6,000 bottles from full term maturation in sherry wood. Manzanilla is a bone dry style of fino sherry from the Atlantic port of Sanlucar de Barrameda and Manzanilla means ‘little apple’. The nose is fruity (raisins & apricots) and sherried with a background of butter and vanilla toffee. The taste is strong at first and sherried with huge sweetness & banana with a back ground that is slightly meaty & oaky. Hints of cold tea, pine resin & very dry. Oddly the sherry aspect is not the dominate characteristic. The finish is very long and quickly shows malt and a mildly waxy woodiness and then very dry with hints of Lapsang Souchong tea. A nice dram indeed.

Very interesting.

From the Springbank Distillery;

Peter Currie will be in the London shop at 26 Chiltern Street on Wednesday, 22nd July with some of the Hazelburn 12 and Springbank 2001 vintage from 11.00 am until 7.00 pm, so if you can manage to come along for a taste, you will be very welcome.

SPRINGBANK 2001 VINTAGE

Nose: Malty, summer fruits. Hints of citrus; lemon meringue pie. Buttery toffee, confectionary and just a hint of spice.
Palate: Wow! What an excellent burst of flavour. Rich and creamy. Honey, vanilla, butterscotch sauce and tropical fruits.
Finish: Smooth with slight hints of smoke and salt. Is this whisky really only eight years old? The small cask maturation has given the whisky a maturity and wisdom well beyond its years.
Availability: Beginning of August, Worldwide but limited
Cost: £38.00 plus p&p

HAZELBURN 12 YEAR OLD

Nose: Incredibly rich, the influence of the sherry casks is immediately apparent. Sweet and chocolatey, there are also notes of apricot, orange marmalade, almonds and marzipan.
Palate: Malty, fruity and elegant. A very well-balanced and rounded dram with hints of oak, figs and nuts.
Finish: A long, lingering fruity sweetness.
AVAILABILITY:  Beginning of August:  Worldwide but Limited
COST: £42.50 plus p&p

The Whisky Exchange Tastings- Jura August 11th & Amrut August 17th UPDATE

We have just been informed by the Whisky Exchange that they still have a few tickets left for both events as shown below;

we2

Dear All,

We’re very grateful to have received such a massive response to the question ‘anyone for a Jura tasting?’ and, indeed, it has left us with a problem (130 people chasing 50 places). To alleviate this we’ve managed to get a second tasting lined up a few days later so you’ll have to choose between:-

Isle of Jura (Tuesday 11th August at 6.30pm)

Willie Tait the Brand Ambassador NOT Distillery Manager (naughty us!) will be running through 7 different expressions from the Isle of Jura distillery, at least 5 of which you’ll almost certainly never have tasted (one of them isn’t released and you’ll be the first members of the public to try it J )

VS.

Amrut Indian Single Malt (Monday 17th August at 6.50pm)

Ashok Chokalingam the International Operations Manager from Amrut Distillers in Bangalore will be coming along to show off 6 whiskies from their range:-

Amrut New Make Spirit

Amrut 46%

Amrut Peated 46%

Amrut Fusion 50%

Amrut Cask Strength 61.9%

Amrut Peated Cask Strength 62.8%

AND 2 Single Malts from Scotland……

THIS WILL PRINCIPALLY BE A ‘BLIND’ TASTING, so you’ll need to be on your toes to pick out the scotches from this excellent line up

————————————————————————————-

Tickets for BOTH of these events will be available to book from 3pm on Tuesday 21st July   BUT!!!!!   you’ll have to decide which one you want to attend, as we intend to give as many people as possible a chance to get places at one of these events. If there are places remaining on either event after the close of business on Tuesday, we’ll make it an option for you to grab a slot on the other event.

If this sounds too confusing, when you ring to book just say which one you want to go to, and if you want to do both we’ll take a contact number from you and let you know if you’ve been successful!

Tickets for the Isle of Jura tasting will be £30pp, Amrut will be £20pp and there’ll be a maximum of 2 places per booking

Best of luck with the redial button
