J. Mattingly 1845 Distillery Celebrates Its Heritage with Launch of Classic Bourbon – American Whiskey News

J. Mattingly 1845 Distillery Celebrates Its Heritage with Launch of Classic Bourbon

Small Batch Bourbon Available Nationwide Starting Aug. 21st

FRANKFORT, KY (Aug. 20, 2024) – J. Mattingly 1845 Distillery, created by Jeff Mattingly, a descendant of distilling pioneer John Graves Mattingly, is honoring its family legacy with the release of its Small Batch Classic Bourbon on August 21st, on what would have been John Graves Mattingly’s 201st birthday.

The Classic Bourbon is the first flagship bourbon released under the J. Mattingly 1845 line of whiskies, and will offer fans a consistent taste profile they will be able to find year-round at retailers and online. “Previously, all of the J. Mattingly 1845 double-staved whiskey releases have been custom blends, created for specific retailers, our guests at the distillery, or by our blending team to honor a specific cause or event,” said Harry Richart, president of J. Mattingly 1845 Distillery.  “This classic double-staved release is now our anchor “house style” from which all of our custom blends, including your own, emanate.”

If early reviews are any indication, J. Mattingly 1845 is right on track – famed Whiskey Bible author Jim Murray scored the Classic Bourbon a 96, saying, “This is extraordinary bourbon for a 6-year-old, having been taken as far as it can go – a bit like an apple plucked from the tree when at its most carmine but juiciest… Every year you will find a very small handful of bottlings which is a real bourbon-lovers’ bourbon. Well, this is one of them.”

The J. Mattingly 1845 Classic Bourbon is a six-and-a-half-year blend bottled at 119 proof.  Like all J. Mattingly 1845 Distillery releases, this bourbon has undergone the Distillery’s signature double- staving™ process, allowing the whiskey inside the barrels additional surface exposure to charred barrel staves to impart more flavor and color.

“This bourbon is the very definition of complex, as well as one which appears to like to stretch a point as far as it can without being guilty of over-indulgence. Unquestionably this is due to the Double-Staving™ method deployed which, with its extra charring, has turned a 6-year-old into something showing the honeyed and toasted intensity of a bourbon a little over three times that age: remarkable. More remarkable is the feeling that just another summer month of maturation and this would have clicked from brilliance to failure: such is the fine line of success in the rarefied atmosphere of whiskeys at this stellar level,” continued Murray.

The Classic Bourbon is available at the Distillery in Frankfort, in select retailers, and online, with shipping to 46 U.S. states.  Suggested retail pricing is $110 for 750 mL.

About J. Mattingly 1845 Distillery

The Mattingly family has been synonymous with distilling in Kentucky for more than two centuries, having a hand in the development of at least nine separate distilleries in the Commonwealth, and with connections to some of the most illustrious names in the distilling industry, including George Garvin Brown, the Willetts and the Samuels.

It all started in 1845, with John Graves Mattingly’s first distillery in Marion County, Kentucky, Registered Distillery #2.  Many historians today believe his distillery was the first registered distillery in Kentucky.

In 2010 Jeff Mattingly took up the family mantle and started his own craft bourbon business.  Today, Jeff’s son Cameron has joined the team as Vice President of Production, continuing the legacy into the latest generation for J. Mattingly Distillery 1845 in Frankfort, Kentucky. Together father and son offer their proprietary double staving process as well as a custom bourbon blending experience unparalleled in the spirits industry, available on-site in Frankfort or online at https://jmattingly1845.com/build-a-bottle/

Lux Row Distillers releases the third edition of its Blood Oath Trilogy featuring Pacts 7, 8 and 9 – American Whiskey News

Lux Row Distillers releases the third edition of its Blood Oath Trilogy featuring

Pacts 7, 8 and 9

Highly collectible bourbons will be available in September

ST. LOUIS (Aug. 15, 2024) — Three is a magic number – especially when it involves a trilogy of sought-after bourbons. Lux Row Distillers announced the release of Blood Oath Trilogy – Third Edition, the latest collection of limited-release bourbons, or “Pacts,” created by Lux Row Master Distiller John Rempe. Featuring 750mL bottles of Pacts 7, 8 and 9, this latest Trilogy has a limited supply of 1,400 sets and is available at a minimum suggested retail price $799.99, which reflects the quality and scarcity of these bourbons. Shipments of the latest Blood Oath Trilogy will begin in September.

For a decade Rempe has sought out famous and forgotten rare bourbons and bottled them in combinations for his limited-release Blood Oath Pacts. Not to cater to anyone’s loyalties, he promises to choose and make the best he knows, but never to reveal where he finds his bourbon. With each Pact, he sets aside a limited number of bottles for his Trilogy editions, which are released every three years.

The third edition of the Blood Oath Trilogy contains Pacts 7, 8 and 9 – reserved since 2021, 2022 and 2023, respectively – and is packaged in a custom black wooden display box designed to highlight each Pact’s distinctive label. Each of the three carefully crafted Pacts is bottled at 98.6 proof (49.3% ABV) and will never be repeated.

  • Blood Oath Pact 7 is a blend of a 14-year ryed bourbon and two 8-year ryed bourbons, one of which was finished in casks that held Sauternes, a sweet white wine from the Bordeaux region of France. The casks impart a nose of caramel, oak and honey with flavor notes of apricots, honey and peaches.
  • Blood Oath Pact 8 features a 14-year ryed bourbon, an 11-year ryed bourbon and an 8-year ryed bourbon finished in Calvados casks, which held apple or pear brandy from the Normandy region in France. The casks lend tasting notes of apple on the nose, with hints of vanilla and cinnamon, as well as flavor notes of ripe apples, juicy pears, butterscotch and subtle hints of chocolate.
  • Pact 9 rounds out the Trilogy with a blend of a 16-year ryed bourbon, a 12-year ryed bourbon and a 7-year ryed bourbon finished in Oloroso Sherry casks from the Sherry Triangle region in southwest Spain. These casks bring out tasting notes of sweet sherry with hints of ripe fruit and spicy oak on the nose.

“Blood Oath is a passion project for me,” said Rempe. “Each new Pact brings together everything that I love about creating memorable bourbons – from the unique blends to the cask-aging. This third Trilogy edition is something truly special and I’m looking forward to sharing this unique collection of bourbon history with our fans.”

Glenmorangie explores the delectable flavours of Europe’s revered wine regions in rare new collection – Scotch Whisky News

Glenmorangie explores the delectable flavours of Europe’s revered wine regions in rare new collection

— Limited to 600 sets, trio of whiskies is a tribute to Master Distiller’s passion for wine —

Glenmorangie Highland single malt Scotch whisky celebrates its Master Distiller’s passion for fine wine with an exceptionally rare trio of aged whiskies: Glenmorangie Pursuit of Passion Wine Cask Collection. As a wine lover and a pioneering figure in the art of wood-finishing whisky, Dr Bill Lumsden has long been inspired by the myriad flavours that wine casks offer Glenmorangie. This collection charts his travels through some of Europe’s most acclaimed wine regions in search of casks that would bring unparalleled deliciousness to his whisky. Showcasing three of Dr Bill’s most prized experiments, each over 25 years old, these 600 sets are an ode to his passion and decades of perfecting the art of wine cask finishing.

For more than 180 years, Glenmorangie’s whisky creators have been endlessly imaginative in their quest to create evermore delicious single malts. They create a delicate and fruity spirit in stills as tall as a giraffe to allow for more taste and aroma. Then they age it in the world’s finest casks. In the late 1980s and throughout the 1990s, Glenmorangie were among the pioneers of wood finishing in the Scotch whisky industry as the distillery experimented with adding new layers of flavours to their signature spirit. This technique involves transferring aged whisky into different casks for even more complexity. Under Dr Bill’s leadership, his team have become experts in this art.

Many years ago, Dr Bill travelled through Europe’s finest wine regions, sourcing precious casks from revered areas in Burgundy and Bordeaux in France and Piedmont in Italy. Then he filled them with whisky, imagining the flavours exceptionally long wood finishes could create. In the Pursuit of Passion’s 600 sets, he shares three of his most delicious experiments: Glenmorangie Margaux Wine Cask Finish, Glenmorangie Corton-Charlemagne Wine Cask Finish and Glenmorangie Barbaresco Wine Cask Finish. Aged 29, 28 and 27 years respectively, these rare creations are united by their extraordinary complexity.

  • The Margaux Wine Cask Finish: Rich, mellow and complex, this 29-year-old whisky was distilled in February 1995, the month Dr Bill joined the Glenmorangie as then Distillery Manager, and was initially aged in bourbon casks. In 2004, Dr Bill transferred the whisky into a handful of red wine casks from Margaux – one of the most renowned appellations in Bordeaux, France. Finished in the wine casks for over 20 years – longer than any other Glenmorangie – his creation reveals intense flavours of chocolate, plums and sweet chilli.
  • The Corton-Charlemagne Wine Cask Finish: The only whisky in the trio finished in white wine casks, this spicy, smooth and full-bodied 28-year-old whisky was also distilled in 1995. It was first laid down in bourbon casks, then was transferred into white Burgundy casks in 2005 – all grand cru status – from the prestigious Corton-Charlemagne appellation in Burgundy, France. This was Glenmorangie’s first experiment with such casks and Dr Bill was intrigued to see how they would shape its soft, signature style. Finished for over 18 years in these casks, this expression brims with notes of jasmine, soft smoke and clove.
  • The Barbaresco Wine Cask Finish: This dry, powerful and rich 27-year-old whisky was distilled in 1996 and laid down in bourbon casks. In 2005, Dr Bill poured a select parcel into prestigious Italian red wine casks, sourced from Barbaresco, in the renowned wine region of Piedmont. These casks had never previously been used at the Distillery – and he imagined the deep, luscious flavours they might bring to Glenmorangie. After an exceptionally long finish of more than 18 years, his experiment resounds with hints of leather, rich spices and eucalyptus.

Glenmorangie’s Pursuit of Passion collection is encased in a handmade oak presentation case, designed as an elegant feature piece. Marquetry design work on the back and sides of the box hints at the staves from which wine casks are made, while the front of the case evokes the different landscapes of the three individual wine regions, reflecting the wondrous flavour journey captured in each bottle.

Dr Bill Lumsden said: “My passion for single malt whisky is perhaps only matched by my passion for fine wine. And my travels through the world’s finest vineyards have inspired many experiments with finishing whisky in wine casks. Of all my experiments, the whiskies in our Pursuit of Passion Wine Cask Collection are among my most prized and delicious. With exceptionally long finishes in precious casks from some of France and Italy’s most renowned wine regions, I’m sure that their complexity will delight and intrigue lovers of both whisky and wine.”

The Glenmorangie Pursuit of Passion Wine Cask Collection will be available through the Moët Hennessy Private Client channel from Autumn 2024.  It will also be available to purchase at Glenmorangie’s Boutique at Heathrow Airport, Terminal 2, as well as in select retail outlets worldwide and the Distillery Visitor Centre in Tain from October 2024. TASTING NOTES

Glenmorangie Margaux Wine Cask Finish is bottled at 52.5% ABV

Colour: Deep Auburn

Aroma: Rich, mellow and complex, with a veritable symphony of fruity and woody notes such as baked apple, pears, apricot and plum, honeydew melon, sweet aged balsamic vinegar and the gentlest touch of oak. There is a delicate, perfumed top note like honeysuckle and the merest hint of stewing black tea leaves. A splash of water then opens up some more curious woody notes, almost like furniture polish or tree resin.

Taste: The texture is peppery, tingly and warming and leads into an explosion of ripe, fruity flavours: apricot, peach, plum, cherries, baked red apples, juicy melon, followed by chocolate ganache, hints of ginger and sweet chilli, but always with a balancing tartness, reminiscent of sour cherries and citrus.

Finish: Long, zesty and woody or nutty, with hints of roasting chestnuts, eucalyptus and cocoa powder.

Glenmorangie Corton-Charlemagne Wine Cask Finish is bottled at 52.1% ABV

Colour: Deep Amber

Aroma: Astonishingly aromatic and perfumed, with hints of pear, honeysuckle, juniper and gorse flowers, supported by some altogether bolder, oak-derived notes, like vanilla, almond and some gentle leather. With a few drops of water, some gentle floral notes are encountered, like carnation and jasmine, and finally the gentlest hint of struck match.

Taste: The texture is smooth and oily, as it coats the mouth with delicious, sweet and spicy flavours like honeycomb, poached pears in syrup, cocoa powder and spiced fruit bread. The sweetness continues with touches of almond marzipan and morello cherries.

Finish: The mellow aftertaste reveals the gentlest hints of leather and clove along with a touch of eucalyptus.

Glenmorangie Barbaresco Wine Cask Finish is bottled at 51.3% ABV

Colour: Mahogany

Aroma: Deep, powerful, spicy and rich, with notes of toffee, black fruits such as cherries, plums and damsons, graphite, black pepper and cinnamon. As the bouquet opens up, hints of vanilla, milk chocolate and baked pears are encountered, along with a hint of aged balsamic vinegar. With a splash of water, some altogether more earthy notes are encountered, like a damp forest floor. This is followed by a burst of eucalyptus and mint.

Taste: The mouthfeel is huge, spicy and slightly drying, and leads into a myriad of complex flavours. Chocolate sweetness is tempered by a grape-must dryness, along with hints of leather, mint-flavoured toffee, Christmas cake, ginger, nutmeg and clove. The classic Glenmorangie citrus fruit note comes across as candied orange peel.

Finish: Long and mellow with hints of chestnuts, oak tannin and aniseed.

About Glenmorangie:

Glenmorangie’s whisky makers use endless imagination and five key ingredients – wood, water, barley, yeast and time – to dream up delicious single malt whiskies. They’ve been honing their craft for 180 years. They create a delicate and fruity spirit in stills as tall as a giraffe to allow for more taste and aroma. Led by Director of Whisky Creation Dr Bill Lumsden, this crackerjack crew are on a mission to bring new flavours and possibilities to the world of single malt.

Glenmorangie celebrates the joy of delicious single malt in every part of its universe, from its boutique hotel Glenmorangie House to its colourful brand campaign, shot by famed photographer Miles Aldridge. With its tagline “It’s kind of delicious and wonderful”, Glenmorangie invites whisky lovers old and new to see themselves in Glenmorangie’s world.

About Glenmorangie’s whisky creators:

Glenmorangie’s Whisky Creation Team’s favourite phrase is “What if?”. And they are constantly challenging themselves to take whatever captures their imaginations and turn it into whisky – be that their memories of a favourite place (A Tale of Tokyo), a cup of coffee (Glenmorangie Signet) and more.

At the helm of the team is Dr Bill Lumsden, Director of Whisky Creation. With a PhD in biochemistry and decades of experience, Dr Bill has all the skills needed to bring these ideas to life. Already, he has earned the admiration of his peers many times over. For instance, he has taken his place in the Icons of Whisky Hall of Fame. He has won the International Whisky Competition’s award for Master Distiller of the Year more times than anyone else. And he has been named Master Blender/Distiller of the Year by the International Spirits Challenge twice.

Working hand-in-hand with Dr Bill is Gillian Macdonald, The Glenmorangie Company’s Master Blender. Gillian combines art and science in her role, with her main responsibilities including the daily sensory analysis of the new-make spirit, core range recipes and the co-ordination of the Company’s sensory panel. Gillian manages the New Product Development pipeline for Glenmorangie which involves nosing hundreds of casks a year for final recipe selection.

About wood finishing:

Almost 40 years ago, dreaming of adding new layers of flavour to their signature spirit, Glenmorangie’s whisky creators were among the pioneers of wood finishing in the Scotch whisky industry. The technique involves transferring aged single malt into wine casks or other cask types to add new layers of flavour. Glenmorangie released its first wood-finished whisky in 1987. Taking what was still a fledgling idea when he joined The Glenmorangie Company in 1995 as Distillery Manager, Dr Bill was inspired to experiment with a multitude of different cask types, ranging from claret (1997) to fino sherry (1998) and Burgundy’s Côte de Nuits (2000). He discovered delicious new flavours and made Glenmorangie even more inviting for whisky lovers old and new. Today, wood finishing has been widely adopted by the Scotch industry, while Dr Bill has continued to explore new aspects of wood finishing, for even more distinctive flavours. For example, Glenmorangie was the first in the industry to finish whisky in Super Tuscan wine casks (Glenmorangie Artein, released in 2012), Clos de Tart wine casks (Glenmorangie Companta, in 2014), re-toasted wine casks (Glenmorangie Milsean in 2016), and bespoke Madeira casks (Glenmorangie Bacalta in 2017). Wood-finished whiskies now form an integral part of Glenmorangie’s range and are among the Distillery’s most delicious whiskies.

About the wine regions explored in Pursuit of Passion:

Margaux, Bordeaux

Perhaps the world’s most famous wine region, Bordeaux takes its name from the port city of Bordeaux, roughly translating to “next to the waters”. Its proximity to the Atlantic Ocean and its various rivers, such as the Dordogne and the Garonne, results in a moderate climate which produces deep ruby red wines. Margaux wines are among some of the area’s most elegant and subtle.

Corton-Charlemagne, Burgundy

Situated in the valleys west of the Saone river, the landlocked region of Burgundy is more influenced by its terroir than any other wine region. The Corton-Charlemagne appellation, in Burgundy’s Côte de Beaune, is renowned for its delicate wines, with notes of butter, baked apples and flint.

Barbaresco, Piedmont

Surrounded on three sides by the Alps, the Piedmont region of Italy, in which Barbaresco wines are made, is one of the most prominent wine regions in the world. Its name translates to the “foot of the mountain” and the temperature variations produces red wines with complex and powerful aromas.

Responsible Drinking:

The Glenmorangie Company advocates responsible drinking and suggests that drinkers savour Glenmorangie whiskies in moderation and in line with recommended daily guidelines for alcohol consumption.

Penelope Bourbon introduces tastes of Spain with Valencia – American Whiskey News

Penelope Bourbon introduces tastes of Spain with Valencia

Annual limited-release bourbon is finished in Vino de Naranja casks from southern Spain

ROSSELLE, N.J. (Aug. 14, 2024) – The annual release of Penelope Valencia is set to launch. On its journey to finish its straight whiskeys in wine casks from the world’s finest winemaking regions, Penelope Bourbon makes its latest stop in southern Spain. This year’s installment of Penelope Valencia pairs Penelope Four Grain Straight Bourbon Whiskey with Vino de Naranja casks from Sevilla, Spain. Penelope Valencia is bottled at 95 proof (47.5% ABV) with a minimum suggested retail price of $79.99 per 750mL bottle. A limited allocation of 5,000 (6-in) cases ship in August.

While the foundation for Valencia is Penelope’s award-winning Four Grain bourbon, the inspiration is Vino de Naranja – a bold, aroma-rich orange wine produced in Spain’s southern coastal wine region of Sevilla by aging white wine and the bitter, fragrant peels of Seville oranges in oak barrels. While Seville oranges cannot be eaten raw, their sharp and powerful flavor and aroma are prized for marmalade, juices and Vino de Naranja.

“We’re constantly evolving and tweaking our processes with the goal of making our products better year over year,” said Michael Paladini, founder of Penelope Bourbon. “This year’s Valencia is a great example of that commitment, and we’re excited to share it for fans to enjoy.”

Penelope Valencia features a mash bill of 74% corn, 7% rye, 16% wheat and 3% malted barley, and is finished for up to 12 months in Vino de Naranja casks. This unique finish imparts an aroma of bold spice and iced coffee cake with orange glaze; a body including flavorful citrus

zest and mandarin with hints of vanilla and candied ginger; and a long, savory finish with hints of orange peel and black pepper.

CONTINUED

“These are some of my favorite wine barrels to work with,” said Daniel Polise, founder and master blender of Penelope Bourbon. “The producer we partnered with from southern Spain creates exceptional orange wine, and this year’s release has fantastic, rich orange and citrus notes that really stand out from last year’s tangerine notes.”

Rated a Top-10 Whiskey Under $100 by Whiskey Raiders and a Silver medal from the 2024 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, Penelope Valencia is one of four special award-winning annual cask finish releases in Penelope Bourbon’s Cooper Series. The other offerings include Rio, double finished in American honey and Brazilian oak casks; Rosé, finished in French rosé wine casks; and Tokaji, finished in Hungarian wine casks. Baker’s 13-Year-Old from The James B. Beam Distilling Co.

Today, we are officially re-releasing the much beloved Baker’s 13YO – a limited-edition bottling of special 13-year-old single barrel liquid, bottled at 107 proof. This extra-aged expression explores how time and location in the warehouse drive distinction from barrel to barrel. From still to rickhouse to bottle, a lot of things happen with the liquid like weather, length of aging, and rickhouse placement all shape the distinct notes and flavors of each barrel.

Named after Baker Beam, grandnephew of the legendary Jim Beam, Baker’s Bourbon honors the family’s long history of distilling, and honors what makes us different.

While the notes of every barrel of Baker’s offer a unique tasting journey, you can expect a few defining characteristics:

Nose: Fruit, vanilla and caramel

Palate: Medium-bodied with flavors of oak, toasted nuts, with vanilla and fruity notes

Finish: Robust, medium-long, and warmly rounded

Baker’s Bourbon 13YO is now available in limited quantities with a suggested retail price of $149.99 for a 750 mL bottle.

KENTUCKY BOURBON HALL OF FAME® TO INDUCT FIVE NEW MEMBERS IN SEPTEMBER

KENTUCKY BOURBON HALL OF FAME® TO INDUCT FIVE NEW MEMBERS IN SEPTEMBER

FRANKFORT, KY.— The Kentucky Bourbon Hall of Fame’s 2024 class includes the first Black chemist at Brown-Forman, a veteran visitor center manager who elevated Bourbon tourism, two distinctive distillery founders and a trailblazing retailer who later created his own craft distillery.

That retail guru is Ken Lewis, retired Founder and CEO of New Riff Distilling, and this year’s recipient of the Parker Beam Lifetime Achievement Award. As a retailer, Lewis created The Party Source megastore and drove legal and legislative changes to allow Sunday and credit card sales of alcohol.

A fearless entrepreneur, in 2014 Lewis launched New Riff Distilling in Northern Kentucky, with the goal of creating one of the world’s great small distilleries based on innovation and collaboration to “riff” on the old ways and redefine new benchmarks of whiskey making.

Eric Gregory, longtime president of the Kentucky Distillers’ Association that created and operates the Kentucky Bourbon Hall of Fame®, lauded this year’s visionary class and said, “Our signature Bourbon industry would not be what it is today without these distinguished honorees.

“Each put the industry before self, helping Kentucky cement its place in history as the international and undisputed home of Bourbon. And now we are honored to honor them. On behalf of our signature industry, we offer congratulations – and a heartfelt thank you – to these Bourbon heroes.”

This year’s class, in alphabetic order, will officially be inducted into the Hall of Fame in September:

  • Elmer Lucille Allen, 93, Louisville. A pioneering activist, Allen broke barriers in the Bourbon industry as the first Black chemist at Brown-Forman – and possibly the entire American whiskey industry. Her work to bring opportunity to all Louisvillians didn’t stop when she left the company. Amongst her many accomplishments, she formed the Chickasaw Little League and led efforts to bring African American art and artists to the mainstream.
  • Dee Ford, 59, Louisville. An international beacon of Bourbon hospitality. Ford’s vision, experience and leadership have catapulted Angel’s Envy and the Kentucky Bourbon Trail® into an international, bucket-list tourism attraction. Since 2014, she’s served as Chair of the KDA’s Kentucky Bourbon Trail® Committee, earning the respect of her peers and sharing best practices that have leveraged hospitality to elevate Kentucky Bourbon on the global stage.
  • Ken Lewis, 71, Cincinnati. A spirits expert and groundbreaking policy leader, Lewis graduated college as a trained English teacher, but left shortly into his young career for the world of spirits retail. He championed efforts for Sunday sales and initiated litigation that allowed retailers to use credit cards for sales, eventually building The Party Source megastore, the first of its kind in the country. Learning the industry from the bottom up, Lewis brought innovation and entrepreneurship as the founder of New Riff Distilling in Northern Kentucky, paving the way for the craft Bourbon boom that now counts dozens of Kentucky distilleries.
  • The late Peter T. Loftin, 61, Miami. A preeminent innovator, entrepreneur and philanthropist, Loftin founded the Bardstown Bourbon Company that transformed the landscape of custom whiskey production in 2014. He was among the first to take advantage of modernized Bourbon tourism laws in Kentucky, creating a world-class restaurant and bar that graciously features every distillery’s brand on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail® tour as well as an enviable vintage spirits lounge. Along with the state-of-the-art distillery, this high-value Napa Valley-style experience greatly raised the bar for Bourbon tourism and collaborative distilling. He died peacefully at his home in 2019.
  • M. Corky Taylor, 75, Henderson, Ky. A respected businessman throughout the country, Taylor retired from an accomplished career in financial services and focused on a lifelong dream – to resurrect his great-grandfather’s whiskey company. Taylor and his son spent countless hours poring over family history to bring back the Kentucky Peerless Distilling Co., originally owned by Henry Kraver in Henderson. He built back the family legacy in Louisville along historic Whiskey Row, gaining national recognition – and national awards – by patiently waiting for his whiskey to age, living up to the original quality Bourbon standards his ancestor first set in 1889.

Note: Full biographies, submitted by the inductees, accompany this release in a separate file.

The KDA created the Kentucky Bourbon Hall of Fame® in 2001 to recognize individuals and organizations that have made a significant and transformational impact on Bourbon’s stature, growth and awareness. It is the highest honor given by the signature industry.

Candidates are nominated each year by the KDA and its member distilleries. A blue-ribbon committee – including all living recipients of the Parker Beam Lifetime Achievement Award – painstakingly reviews and selects up to five applicants a year for induction.

The invitation-only ceremony will be held Tuesday, Sept. 10, at The Legacy at Log Still in Nelson County, Ky. The intimate event, known for attracting the industry’s most revered legends and champions, is held annually in conjunction with the Kentucky Bourbon Festival in Bardstown.

The 2024 Kentucky Bourbon Hall of Fame® ceremony and luncheon is sponsored by Brindiamo Group, Blue & Co., LLC, Bardstown Tourism, Buzick Construction, Inc., Stedman Machine Company and Vendome Copper & Brass Works Corp.
