The Whisky Lounge “What’s New?” – Scotch Whisky News

What’s New?…

And just in case you missed it!

Greetings from Whisky Lounge Lock-Down HQ!

We have news of our latest virtual tasting pack and event, plus information on ACTUAL tastings and festivals! You remember those, where we all get together in one real space at the same time for a dram!

We also wanted to update you on what we have raised so far for The Drinks Trust and The Ben – through our virtual tasting pack program – and a little comp for those with time on their hands…

We have partnered up with the good folks at Inverhouse Distillers to proffer up a truly global quiz! Join us on the 30th July as we trot across the globe and join Brand Ambassadors in their native lands to ask you their whisky quiz questions.

All of this whilst you taste some rather fine stuff from the Inverhouse stable of single malts.

There will be ‘on the spot’ giveaways and various prizes such as Glencairn tasting glasses, exclusive clothing and whisky-inspired stuff – as if you needed enough reason to take part.

With £5 of each tasting pack going to The Drinks Trust, to help those in the drinks and hospitality trade in the UK, there really is no excuse for not getting involved!

The list of whiskies on tasting;

AnCnoc 12 Years Old
Speyburn 15 Years Old
Balblair 15 Years Old
Old Pulteney 15 Years Old

The packs are only £25 plus £6.95 delivery (up to four packs to one address), so hit ‘BUY’ below to secure your place!

Just to note that these packs do take a little while to get together, so please be patient. You will receive it before the tasting, but do not expect it within a day or two of ordering it. Thanks!

Charity Update

As you are hopefully aware, very early on, we decided to give £5 from each tasting pack sold, through the website, to one of two charities. This has been steadily accumulating and we can now proudly announce that – thanks to you – we have raised just over £2500 for the two charities. Both support Hospitality and Drinks workers, who have been hard-hit during this crisis, The Drinks Trust works primarily in England, The Ben in Scotland.

We hope you’ll agree this is a fantastic result so far, but we would ask you to please continue your support by getting involved in these tastings.
It’s hardly a chore is it?!

‘Real’ Tastings and Events

It seems like an aeon since we held our last physical tasting, all the way back on the 16th March in Sheffield. Of course, we are desperate to re-start our events, for a great many reasons, however, we do not want to rush something out only to put you, our venues, and us at potentially great risk. We firmly believe that we will be able to roll out events slowly in September onwards, but we are also realistic in the knowledge that it is going to be sometime before we reach anything approaching ‘normality’ again.

Regardless of what happens in the coming months, please be assured that we are not going anywhere. Your booking is safe and we are more than happy to move you to a virtual tasting or an event later this year, or even into 2021. Just email us on if you would like to discuss options.

If you have a ticket for the Bristol Festival, which was due to be held this Saturday (18th July), you should have received an email a couple of weeks ago to inform you that it has had to be postponed once more. We have been in regular contact with the venue and it is clear that it would be impossible to run this event under current circumstances.

We had therefore made the difficult but correct decision to move it to 24th April 2021. If you don’t get in touch to say otherwise, we will move your booking to the corresponding session in 2021 and, if you’re happy with that, you need do nothing else. There are plenty of other options, including tasting packs with virtual tastings, gift vouchers and more, as well as a virtual whisky festival in the works, so do get in touch if in doubt –

Competition Time

We have 20 Kavalan face masks, various sample drams, and goodie bags to give away. We want to record this extraordinary time, and also send a message of hope, with the amazing amount of money you have raised for our very hard-hit friends and colleagues. The competition is very simple – please just send us a picture of a rainbow, or your favourite lockdown dram, or message of hope. You can send this to or as a message to our Facebook page.

We will put this together into a TWL lockdown album which you will be able to see on our Facebook page. Our favourites will receive something nice in the post.

That’s it!

Don’t forget to catch up on the latest whisky news from Connas HERE.

We look forward to seeing you – on-line – soon!

In the meantime – Stay Safe. Stay in. Have a dram.

Sláinte and best wishes,
Eddie, and the whole Whisky Lounge Team
